Hydraulic Lifers will limit top RPM's but low maintaince time and costs.. Varialbe valve timing still very good low RPM torque.. Any Modern Motorcycle can be brought to life as they all run too lean stock for Emissiosn.. Just give them 5% more fuel and you get more throttle response .. more drivability ect..

Skidoo now has a computer controlled Turbo on their 800 CC two stroke that a makes the same HP at Sea Level as it does at 10,000 feet Or get a Yamaha 4 stroke powered snowmobile with 225 HP if you don't mind all the extra weihgt of a 4 stroke

This was a pretty pointless video. I mean it gives a rough idea, but really, you need to break the bike in first, put some 93 octane in the tank, try a 4th gear pull, and for the love of all things fast, stop rolling into the throttle! Also, while you may have started in sport mode, the computer disabled all assists as well as mode selection when it detected only the rear wheel spinning. In order for you to change modes again, you had to turn the ignition off and start the bike again.

@ShawnZiemba

Everything I'm reading/learning about, is saying it wasn't designed for higher torque numbers. Excessive torque at low speed off-road riding, would just necessitate more electronic mitigation so you don't wreck all the time. It seems to me its designed to rev out more for highway travel, so high torque isn't needed.
@jerrym2321

@@ShawnZiemba Perhaps....but my dirt bike is all about torque and I have no problem off-roading with that. I expect it has as much to do with meeting a regulatory environment in California as rideability. Time will tell as more reviews come out. Thanks Shawn.

A stock M8 doesn't make much more - maybe 90-95 TQ, but it makes 70% more power than a stock M8. I'd also like to see a little more torque, but I can say that at any rpm above 4000, this thing will pull hard in any gear.

80 ft. lb. seems spot-on to me. It's a short stroke engine. Short stroke = less torque.
@billdaggett7911
2 жыл бұрын
It has plenty of torque for a 540 lb bike. A stock big twin 114 M8 on a 800+ lb bike only has 120 ft-lb and revs to 5k before it runs out of steam. The PA revs to 8300 before it quits making power. It has plenty of torque. Pulls from 2.5k to 8.3k with a flat broad curve. The bike has so much power that the off-road modes reduce power from 150hp to 100hp (at the crank). Fuel Moto has a slip-on pipe and PowerVision tuner combo that increases the Dyno torque to 91 ft-lb and hp to 147! Those are significant gains. The SE Extreme flow air filter would offer gains as well.

HP is more than enough but that torque is disappointing for a v-twin. This bike is probably suited for highway rides more than trail riding despite the off-road pretense. Overall, it is still quite impressive but the Japaneses, German, Italians and Austrian have nothing to worry about.

I agree if hp was the only goal. That 131 is going to be a hell of a lot more fun though. Manufacturers typically give their horsepower numbers at the crank. Bikes lose 10 to 15% of that power through the driveline. 150 minus 15 percent is 128 hp! Boing!
