Awesome video!!! Boys and I are headed up this weekend. East side or west side of upper?

If it were me.... I would be looking to get away from people somewhere in a transition area on the east side. Remember the cold front will probably have an significant impact on how the fish set up and move this week as compared to last week (which hedges me to East side even more). Tip ups should be your best friend right now so pick a high percentage area and be patient.

These are not making off release in any kind of good numbers. Your keeping them out of water for way too long. Not to mention the temperature on the gills...cold temps damage gills instantly. Keep the fish in the hole till you measure and take picks. Hands get cold but it toughens you up, sacrifices for the fish...

The way I cut the videos make it look like the fish stays out of water the whole time, but I can assure you it does not. If you look at the fish between cuts, it is shiny and not frosted over; that is because I am continually dipping the fish back in the water. I am very careful with these fish and do everything I can to make sure they are released healthy. If I kept them out of water for so long, they would not take off nearly as fast when I release them either.... I know the fish I release ARE surviving in good number and I AM making the necessary sacrifices for the fish.

Great video... never hang fish strait up and down by the gill plate. The entire weight of the fish is focused at the base of the skull. I can tell you care just hold and carry with the compassion of release. good video.

Walleye do not only feed up!
@engineered2hunt

Correct, few fish exclusively feed in one direction. On LBDN many walleyes feed on gobies which are on the bottom of the lake. It was just a general statement I was making not an absolute.

Personally I do not like keeping anything over the 21-22" range to eat and it just makes me happier to send them back down the hole to be caught again.
