Great video! I think I’ve already gone through all of em the english ones at least hehe. What I love about your reviews is that you never go down the list of what’s on paper which I think we all know already. I got a really good idea of how the bike would probably feel. Sold my superduke gen 1 late last year and contemplating on getting the ducati sf which most of my buddies have already or this one since it would be nice to occasionally have the wife on pillion for some trips and because sadly the local dealer in Manila doesn’t have a date in sight or if they are even ever going to bring the new SD in the country anytime soon. Local ktm is on reservation now for this great adv to arrive last quarter this year and a couple of slots left. Love the grunt on the ktms and power delivery but the ducati just looks so nice that if you just had one bike to look at in your garage that would be the one. But i Loved my gen 1 sd so much even toured in it many times and I got a whole new understanding of their culture of bikes. Saw your other vids of the new sd and sf by the way because of this video. Keep it up and looking forward to your next reviews! New fan and subscriber here!

Hi there in glad you enjoyed the vid, as for the spec sheet, I don't read from it as some do, if you are looking at a video you will probably know what the bike specs are, i lean more towards how a bike rides and what it would be like to use on a regular basis. As for the Busa, I would gladly tour on it, n road only trip. But as you can see from my other bike tests I'm more of an adventure bike or naked Street bike rider. Without doubt the new hayabusa is a class act.

Brilliant review. I test rode one yesterday. The overal bike is fantastic!!! Much, much better than the previous one. Smooth but aggressive when you want it. Cruising at motorway speeds is very comfortable. One big thing that put me off though is the rubbish switch gear. Its like they blew the whole budget on everything else and then realised they had forgotten the buttons. So cheap and flimsy and almost impossible to tell if you have pushed them with gloves on especially the indicator. The sales person also said there is already a known issue where the seat wont stay in its higher setting, not good for a brand new bike. If it wasn't for switchgear I would have put a deposit down yesterday.

Thanks for the comments pal, Ktm have a made a great ( the 1290 adv) bike better, I sort of agree with the switch gear thing and it is a bit PlayStation console isn’t it, but I got used to it. I think as an owner of any bike you get into your routine and set the bike up and then don’t fiddle with bits anymore, just ride it. It’s a bit odd that there is a n issue with the seat, I’ve not heard that, mind you it’s not as bad as the V4 multistada,S woes.... well hope not anyway. This new 1290s is definitely on my short list.... ride safe pal keep it upright.

To be fair I think seat comfort is very subjective, I’ve only had mine 3 weeks and covered a 1000 miles, managed 350 in one day and waited for the seat to be a problem. It didn’t happen and suits me, I doubt I will be upgrading to the many PP options. I’ve ridden bikes for 40 years and had allsorts. This is my first ever KTM and I honestly believe I have finally found whatever it was I was ever looking for. 😀

Sure you're a great rider. But I think posting a video showing how 'you' think we should ride is poor form. If you want to spend lot's of time on the opposite side of the road to smooth off and see round corners that's fine. But I hope your encouragement to ride in this somewhat advanced fashion doesn't end up with the death or serious injury of less experienced riders or the people they'll hit. Nice bike though.
@36moto
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Chris, i think riders should ride how they feel works for them, and if a rider watches one of my videos I would like to think it will encourage self analysis and reflection. There are two ways of progressing rider experience, time or training/ coaching, I always advocate coaching or training..... even Moto gp riders have coaches. And you said it yourself, “ see round corners”. using an advantageous road position to increase view is one thing in a riders toolbox ( how’s that for a buzzword) that can help with increasing the safety gap, thinking time and fluidity of ride. This issue ( using all the available road surface) divides many riders and like many things we do on our bikes it’s our choice. There are groups that have given this practice a name that I don’t use ... “ offsiding “. My my advice to any rider seeking to make smooth progress is this, if you naturally, or by good use of your Roadcraft, achieve a better view ahead it has to be of benefit in many diverse driving situations... urban, rural and highway. There is also the issue of perception, I think hang gliding is dangerous for example, however I’m sure hang glider pilot rationalise it. Stay tuned Chris, perhaps I should explain what I’m doing and why in more detail and help riders grow or at least reflect on their Roadcraft skills. Now there’s a video series...

@@36moto Appreciate your response. I get completely what you're saying. My view is that this advanced riding needs the training/coaching approach you speak of, but time and experience too. I guess that's all I'm saying. You'll be fine doing it. But a less experienced rider could be in real trouble when they try riding like this, are confronted with something they haven't seen or expected and then freeze solid - it's not going to end well. At the end of the day, we're all responsible for our own safety as we ride so the decision is ours to make. I did the IAM training years ago - it was brilliant and changed the way I ride forever and there was me thinking I was a 'good' rider.... seems there was room for improvement. Highly recommend it. I even have a Rukka jacket now :-)

@@chrisa7237 hi Chris, as an advanced motorcycle coach I saw many Good riders pass through my training courses, police riders, paramedics and several who wouldn’t tell me who they worked for, and I never asked, i remember one student in particular, a DAS instructor before joining the emergency services, (he was a firefighter,) We were sat together having lunch after he had successfully passed his motorcycle course and had his debrief when he said that the course had only great but a real eye opener too. Now that was a quality review a good watch, makes my V Strom 1000 look exactly what it is budget and very old in design by comparison. I wouldn’t mind a test ride on this swanky new KTM, but I’m frightened by two things - signing the line which is dotted & losing my license.

+Andrew Shore thanks for the kind words mate. I really enjoyed the big Ktm as you can tell from the vid. It would have been nice to have the bike for longer as some of the more famous KZitem guys do. Since the ride and having had time to reflect i do wonder if it is better than the opposition or is it just faster... as an all round bike does it beat the Gs or Vstrom and others. There are Certainly reliability issues from time to time with KTM where as I’ve not heard of a Suzuki or Kawasaki Versys going bang. I long term multi use review would give a clearer picture but a blast on a big fast bike is a great day out non the less... cheers for watching R

Hi there, I think the Ktm people are pretty good in the UK and wider Europe, perhaps the US dealer is suffering he can't sell you one yet. Its sad how one engagement with a sour employee can make up a customers mind to look elsewhere..to be fair an Africa Twin is a good choice, it might not be as fast but there is more to motorcycle life than speed.. and like the posters used to say, " you meet the nicest people on a Honda" stay tuned pal. ride safe.

I ordered one about two weeks ago. After coming to Europe I've been riding an old 1150 GS for about two years and in less than a week after getting my A license I was at the dealer.
