@@Englishbikerdan Hi Dan, I disagree...I think Suzuki DO think you influence sales...certainly influence opinion...and Kawasaki will eventually wake up, and recognise that you do have an effect on opinion, and ultimately sales too. I hope that soon, you will be able to go to BMW, KTM, Ducati, and whomever you want to try bikes from, and they will be happy to do so. I do think this will happen, if you continue your style of YT content. Just continue to do what you do...and you might be surprised what might happen. Suzuki gets a lot of shit these days for not innovating but this bike is proof positive that their formula of steadily improving what has already been successful is can be a winning strategy. This bike looks appears to be a stunning value. I hope it sells well.

I'd love a true "current gen" Suzuki naked. The GSX-S750 is really old and it's discontinued already. I remember reading something a few months ago about Suzuki having plans to refresh and modernize their bikes in the future. I hope this means a fresh new naked to compete with bikes like Tuono 660, CB650, or even the MT-07.

Rumours abound of a new Suzuki 650 class naked using a parallel twin.
@exothermal.sprocket
2 жыл бұрын
They had a turbocharged concept come and go, called the Recursion. It was a 588cc parallel twin intercooled turbo, on a sports naked 1/4 fairing bike. Really wish they'd have put it out. But I suppose something along the lines of cost and sales numbers justifying a force induction bike in the sub-600cc range putting out the power of a 800-900cc bike, probably didn't make sense ultimately. Yes, the 645cc V-twin is probably going to get retired soon and replaced with a 690-ish or 700cc parallel twin (most likely a 270° crank in keeping with their v-twin sound/feel heritage) to compete with the excellent MT-07 that stole the show. Parallel twins are less expensive to manufacture, package, less weight, less complex fuel and cooling and exhaust systems. With no less than 4 firing order configurations that I know of, they can be made to feel and sound just about anything they want as well.

Copying something Kawasaki did over 10 years ago? Surely that’s proof positive Suzuki ARE shit at innovation. Same price as the SX, so how is it stunning value ? Nice to have a choice though between green and blue. Oh hold on, Kawasaki have already made one in this blue…..

@@douglasalexander4348 You don't HAVE to like Suzuki. Surely you've seen an example of a manufacturer that has been making something for years and might be a market leader in that particular product. Then along comes someone else and knocks them off their pedestal with the first swing. Happens often. If you can get past the brand bias, you might see the value of something. From experts motojournalists who've been in the bizz for decades and have ridden everything, micro-analyzed everything, seen and experienced it all, they are saying that the S1000GT is probably one of the best products Suzuki has put out in recent decades. Yes they don't put out a lot, but they put out. The tech is there, the aero is there, the features are there, the purpose of the bike is there, the horsepower is there, the lower weight is there, the durability and proven powerplant is there. Nothing to whine about.

Great video and we appreciate the honesty. Is there a plan to do a head to head comparison of the Tracer 9, 1000sx, and 1000GT models? I would be very interested to see how the bikes actually fair against one another. Also, some talking points I rarely see on any bikes in this segment are: 1. Spine compression (how the bike translates road conditions to your body) 2. Pillion perspectives on comfort, gab handle location/design, seat size, getting on/off bike, etc. 3. How the bike handles in 90 degrees (F) and above in city and on highway and what is the experience like (I live in Texas, its hot as hell here 9 months of the year) 4. Bike comfort and usability for larger riders (height and weight) 5. What is the best bike in the segment (this is a bit of a faux pas for some, but if you were going to buy 1 bike to do everything, what would that be?)

The Suzuki does seem sportier than the Ninja 1000SX, which I have test ridden along with the Ninja H2 SX SE+. It is lighter with more horsepower than the 1000SX, just look at the frame and swingarm. It's half the cost of the 2022 H2 SX SE. The 2019 H2 SX SE+ I rode seemed top heavy. Both Ninjas are more luxurious than this Suzuki. The 2022 H2 SX SE has the same type of dash as this Suzuki plus heated grips, IMUs, radar sensors for collision warning and blind spot monitor, tire pressure meter, cornering LEDs, Bluetooth key fob, supercharger with 200 hp, and a centerstand, but at double the price of this Suzuki. Okay so I have some questions I'd love to see you cover in your future material(s) about that bike or just as comments, please: 1. Seems like the position is quite comfortably upright (not too sporty but not like full upright like on an adventure bike) - doesn't that mean that you get a lot of wind blown at your face, I mean helmet? Does the accessory screen improve that a lot or just barely noticeably? 2. The side cases - how firm are they especially when you accidentally hit a hole on the road? 2. Side cases again - do they really fit a helmet? How's the antiwater protection of those? 3. Details on riding position - I'm currently riding on a GSX-S750 and I love the bike but the position is quite leaned forward so after a while I need to have a stretch because my lower back and knees start to hurt a little. I'm assuming there's no such problem with that bike? (just making sure) 4. If you could please compare the rider's position and handling of that beauty to e.g. your previous bike, the CB-650R. What I mean is that this bike is definitely heavier but were you uncomfortable with that mass? Or even compare it with your current machine, of course if you can ;) Thanks for the material, I've been watching your videos for a while with great pleasure, you've definitely grown as a content creator on KZitem, cheers from Poland!

I don't think that the style of the bike reminds me of an R-1. It's angular and I believe if one checked into it that they'd find the same team of design did the Katana. I'd bet a paycheck on it. As far as competing with the Ninja 1000. Not even close. Base price is basically the same, but the electronics package of the Ninja is mind boggling. And it comes standard with cruise control. That's a big miss by Suzuki as far as I'm concerned. The wind screen seems to have a very steep angle so it seems to lack in the wind protection compared again with the Ninja. Basically, what it seems to me, is that it took Suzuki 7 years to FINALLY add bags to their GSXRS1000S (if the designation I got wrong it's because the bike wasn't memorable to begin with). I don't mean to slam Suzuki. I love this motor. I love the 750. I haven't sat on a Katana so I can't say much there, but they've always had butter smooth gear shifts. They're just not very good at thinking ahead of the curve.
@Englishbikerdan
2 жыл бұрын
This comes with cruise control as standard too. One thing I realised after two days of riding Scotlands wet and windy roads, was that the bike simply doesn't need an IMU. It has all the things I'd want from a sports tourer bar heated grips. The screen was great but I'd probably opt for the slightly larger touring screen but that's just to make things quieter for videos. It's great that there's another option in the category and I think this bike will sell really well. It's certainly piqued my interest! Cheers. 👍

My kind of bike. Comfortable sporty bike that I can also tour on. I've not found one that is perfect yet and I'll have too have a closer look at the gsx GT. The pillion comfort looks to be a bit lacking which would be a deal breaker for me. There are quite a few bikes now in this segment but none are so reasonably priced.
@Englishbikerdan

They've apparently aimed to give the pillion plenty of comfort with the seat padding and peg position, but only one way to find out really. I will take the Mrs on the back when I can get a long term loan.

@@Englishbikerdan Had a R1200RS that really suited me but the Mrs was used to a previous K16GT and pillion comfort never came close. It's hard to find decent pillion accommodation in bikes that are not full on tourers first. I think the answer is not to let them try tourers and they won't know what's available ;-)

I think it's going to hurt sales that it doesn't come with panniers. Sure, you can add them but it sounds like that'll be $1,200-1,500 more and your dealer would have to order them and good luck getting them shipped right now. OR, there's a Tracer 900 GT right over there...
@Englishbikerdan
3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it will tbh, for a couple of reasons. 1. It's such a great bike. 2. If you really want panniers you'd still need to buy them elsewhere and they wouldn't look as good. 3. I've heard bad things about the Tracer's comfort. 4. While subjective, I think this bike looks way better than the new Tracer9. Time will tell but I think this will sell like hotcakes!

Taste is so individual and while I think it's a good looking bike I can tell you that I get compliments on its looks practically every time I am out riding my Ninja 1000SX. As an exemple check out my little helmet "review" (more like a personal opinion) on the new Arai Quantic, even there I got a compliment.

Gonna have a '24 red gt plus in my garage on tuesday. To tell the truth, I'm starting to like the front end of the gt. Sure as heck looks better than many of Yamaha's latest. Why do these road tests show miles and miles of riding from a helmet camera but no pictures or videos of the luggage interior, panniers being removed and refitted, underseat storage, and tool kit, and ease of maintenance, all the practical stuff as a tourer I want to know about.
@Englishbikerdan
2 жыл бұрын
Probably because most people want to know how the bike will perform on the road. Maintenence isn't something a reviewer would be able to cover unless they purchased the bike, or had it for months. Plus, the bike is so new there's not much information about maintenance and service schedules yet. The other points are subjective, not everyone wants to know them. But it sounds like you have seen a gap, so why not go and make some videos about those subjects yourself? Could do well.

Great vid and first one out in uk driving - well done. I currently own a gsx s1000f (2018) and this would be just perfect for me but no hand guards, heated grips nor possibility of a top box - doesn't even look like it will be easy to fit one. None available even as an option. Surely this would have been relatively easy to do? Obviously not. Aftermarket may sort this out but easier as an option right?

Have you risen the new Tracer 9 GT? If so how does this compare to it in terms of comfort, handling, power, weight etc and honest answer which would you choose?
@Englishbikerdan
2 жыл бұрын
I've ridden the older Tracer 900 GT but not the new Tracer 9. Yamaha's are very difficult to ride as the local dealers to me don't seem interested and Yamaha themselves aren't yet loaning bikes out to us lowly KZitemrs yet (other than TMF). Judging from what I've heard from other people, I would take the Suzuki. It's not as wild as the Tracer but more comfortable and probably a lot faster top end. Not that top end should matter really. Plus I much prefer the looks of the Suzuki and I've had a bad experience with Yamaha for reliability.

@@Englishbikerdan Thanks Dan. I will certainly have a look at these next year. I am on a new Tracer 7 at the moment. Just thinking of upgrade options next. @HahrtDood Yes indeed, worst bike I've ever owned was the MT07. Absolute disgrace to be classed as Japanese built. So many of them had major rust issues on the coolant pipes, swingarm and frames. Mainly on welds and under the tank area. I had my swing arm replaced under warranty, only for the new one to rust within 3 months during summer. Not to mention the numerous electronics issues I faced. If you go back on my channel long enough, you'll see a few vids about it. Shame, as they make some fun motorcycles.

Great video (as always) I'll definitely test ride one when its available to us mere mortals, but it's gonna have to be very very good to tempt me off my 2021 V-Strom 1050XT Tour which is also built to a budget but has 6 axis IMU, hill hold/start assist, load controlled stabilising braking, cornering abs, cornering traction control & cruise control. I know its been priced (and built) to a budget but I still cant understand the lack of a 6 axis IMU (if only for all the safety features it allows) and there's not even the option for a top box on a touring bike? Whats that all about?
