Abbott has done nothing about the problem but has taken millions form the energy companies who haven't done anything. Next time there's a deadly cold snap in Texas expect him to join Cruz in Mexico.

Next time there’s a deadly cold snap in Texas, I expect to see riots on the news. I won’t be joining them, because I’m not about to risk getting hurt or arrested, but I expect they will happen. Either that, or the power companies realize they have a potential mass revolt on their hands, and decide that winterizing the grid is worth it in order to not have thousands of people out for their blood. Sadly, I doubt they’re intelligent enough for that.

If they get the power grid of northern states, that will help keep the grid running and better able to handle such weather events. You all don't have it built that way because you almost never get that type of weather, but it should be a "just in case" thing. Like how THIS story wound up being one of those events. Just because something is really that rare doesn't mean don't prepare for it. "IF" it can happen, plan ahead for "WHEN" it does happen.

I’m 15 years old and I’ve always heard crazy weather stories and I always thought it’d be cool to be in one, now I am lol, I live in Wichita Falls, it reached -7°F stayed below freezing for 10 consecutive days and we got 11 inches of snow! Truly have never seen anything close to that here

You no longer find it "cool" to be in one, do you? Now that you know what it's like. I mean, yeah, my curiosity gets the best of ME, too. I would like to know what it's like living in Texas during the summer. Really it's that I want to escape the winters I get in Ohio. But I could use more of a summer, too. But we'll see how well I handle summer there, if only I could ever get there.

I genuinely feel bad for people in Texas . Last year same thing happened on a higher magnitude and I remember people denying it as not a sign of climate change because it was once in a century event. Same thing has happened this year and it might stay this way or atleast more frequent in coming years . Hope they don’t get in power outage troubles.

Man, last year was just terrible here. Roads were icy, the power outages were scary, and it was so cold in the house, I made my bed, and layered it with 2-3 extra blankets just to keep warm. Including a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and two layers of socks. Me and my coworkers were saddened about the deaths that happened here. I felt bad for the families that lost their loved ones during those harsh times.

the earth goes through periods of heating and cooling over millions of years. Might wana do some research on ice ages. Liberals claim we are heating due to humans that is false, actually the earth is cooling. This agenda is political based for votes and a scare tactic. we had a freeze like this in the 20s. The earth has gone through MUCH MUCH worst than humans lmfao. Stop the political agenda, the earth will be fine even after humans are extinct.

since 2014, Abbott has received about $30 million from oil, gas and other energy interests, which is about 18% of his $166 million total raised in that time. Four out of the top 10 individual donors to Abbott are oil and gas men.

I wish I could go back and re-live it all over again. I was genuinely pissed off at how unprepared I was and how I had to abandon my home and take my family to my in laws. We’re more prepared now but the I doubt we’ll get another storm like that again.

There has been a great deal of volcanic activity over the past few years, especially during 2021. Perhaps, it's time to take the global temperature again. Volcanic eruptions cool the Earth... Volcanic stratospheric aerosols cool the surface by reflecting solar radiation and warm the stratosphere by absorbing terrestrial radiation. The variations in atmospheric warming and cooling result in changes in tropospheric and stratospheric circulation.

So glad I dont live in Texas anymore and live in a state that knows how to handle the change of seasons. I travelled across TX during this event. It was ridiculous how ill prepared they were. But y'all wanna get your own goddamn grid... Hah. See how well that worked out for ya.
