despite what he said, i suspect there will be another model. I think they will stroke the motor and increase compression. currently it runs 11.7 cr, which means it can take anything at the pump (not that you should or that it's recommended). there is no reason not to increase that to 13.5, that is absolutely reasonable for this class of bike to expect high octane exclusively. there is still more weight savings that can be had as well, notably in the wheels, since carbon wheels is become increasingly commonplace in this class.

Absolutely the bike I have been hoping that Triumph would produce. I was always interested in the Speed Triple, but recently it has been overshadowed by the likes of the SuperDuke and others. In my case, I am looking to the coming year for my next bike, and I think it is likely to be down to the SD GT and the STRS. I suspect it'll still end up being the SD GT simply on the grounds that I love V twins and I also think that the GT is probably going to be the better for long distances. i'm hoping to do a trip to Northern and Southern Italy once Covid allows, and I'm not convinced that the smaller tank and fewer touring pretension of the Speed Triple will allow that sort of touring. But it's certainly much closer to the SD than anything else out there. I just wish that Triumph would offer a bike more like the old Spring RS. Looking forward to a test ride in any case. You never know, it might persuade me.

You're suggesting more than a 16% drop, I'd imagine it'll be between 5-10%. Either way, I believe Triumph's focus wasn't solely on a Top Trumps battle with big power figures. It's more about how it makes its power and where in the rev range plus adding in those electronics and high-end components to provide an all-encompassing ride, fit for road and track. Though it would be interesting to see some track times, dyno figures and drag racing between the main supernaked players. Cheers, Michael

The RS badging will be covered by tank pads.

That's a really good point, there's no official accessory side tank pads just the one to stop belt buckles scratching.

The $21K US turned my boner into a bummer. I'll hang onto my '19 1050 RS for a couple more years. Triumph just edged out a huge chunk of their market with that price tag. You can get so much more bike from other manufacturers for that price.

Bit too much power for me, nice bike but I prefer the looks and lighter weight of the Street Triple.

Dear triumph please find the Colour department in the paint shop, or do we have to rely on you over charging for a TFC model???????????

I was really excited about this launch, but was slightly disappointed with the looks. It's going to go like stink and handle really well, but they could have made it look a bit more special, and not like a bigger-engined Street Triple.

When he says triumph build quality : is this inferring high quality, and are they known for high quality these days? Also who broke wind 💨 at15:42 lol 😂

Absolutely. The build quality on Triumphs is fantastic. It's great on my 2017 street triple 675r, but it's a step up on the newer models. They all have a really premium feel to them, much like Ducati.

Disappointed tbh. I all sounds like a great bike and I am sure that it will perform well enough but it looks bland. Not a patch on the old grey and red 2017-8 plus it isn't a British bike any more. Made in Taiwan I believe.
