Def a drivers machine. I have 17ss and beat the piss out of it. It will beat you back with the stock suspension but it will take it as long as you can. I recommend looking into the AVID utv long travel kit with weller revalve shocks. Then slap a gytr turbo on it at like 9lbs and it will keep up with the best.

Should definitely do a turbo kit..the yamaha gytr kit is where is at..the power is there if you need it, but not over the top

I put almost 5000 miles on a 2017 YXZ before buying my Rubicon. The YXZ is by far the best SXS on the market! Machine is so fun and bulletproof! 🚨 BTW…I’ve got some cool YXZ videos on my channel…Turbo YXZ too.

I have a 16 with sequential shift (clutch pedal and shifter) and while I will say I have a bug smile on my face when driving the yxz , it is more squirly on the trails. My x3 max is more of a relaxed cruiser (even when full throttle on the trails or dunes). I hate this it’s a drivers car comment.
@UTVSource

We feel that the Sport Shift transmission is definitely a HUGE step in making the YXZ more of a cruise-capable vehicle, and would agree with you that its pretty squirrely compared to something with a little longer wheelbase. When we say "driver's car" we are mostly referring to how the YXZ almost begs to be driven hard & aggressively...seems to come to life the more you push it.

We've driven a few of them before and in fact one of our very first videos was on our review of the YXZ...that being said, this one is the first we've spent considerable time with and we love it, even with the obvious shortcomings that keep it from being more of an "every man's" vehicle.

The rear differentials are a major weakness with these units. Look it up , they break on everyone’s unit.

That's not what I am hearing at all. I have quite a few people I follow that ride YXZ's. I've never seen a rear diff break. Front, yes. Rear, no. And these guys bounce this vehicle over rocks and boulders. TCB Offroad recommends a front diff on one of their videos and I plan on purchasing that very one.

Out here on the west coast , you see them break down at all the dune trips. I see people dumping the clutch all the time to get them to move and that’s not good on the diff. I am not talking about the paddle shifter but the ones with a clutch pedal.
