I love my 2020 XT6 Sport but... What I love: The 3.6L powertrain, headroom and legroom in all three rows, the interior (carbon fiber FTW), ventilated front seats, controls and infotainment, the level of quiet in that cabin, the electric up and down 3rd row, handling and ride (Sport trim has adjustable shocks that are very good) What would improve it: the Escalade's curved screen (it's apparently coming for the 2024 MY); a higher definition video recorder; massage front seats; real buttons/switches for the comfort settings. Also, the 2023 gets Brembos up front and they are very, very good. I can get 4-5 passengers and their skis and equipment INSIDE this vehicle and the gas mileage is really good for the size and weight of this vehicle. This is overlooked but it's thousands less than its competitors and it's very very good. Also, don't overlook the nice packaging of its rear wiper (tucked up under its rear spoiler) and other nicely-thought-through features. Not the best in class but very very good.

Great to see some of my nitpicks are being addressed for 2024. This is going to really bring the XT6 up another level! Awesome to hear you have been loving it so far, how many kilometres you got on it now?

@@carswithsonduren 51k kms. It still feels like it was carved from a solid ingot of aluminum. The adaptive suspension is extremely good - perhaps the one feature of this car that is best in class. That and the steering. Keep up the great, insightful reviews!

Awesome to hear! Really loved this SUV for its responsive steering and suspension. They did a great job really making it responsive, firm, and sporty but still comfortable.

Thanks, Sonduren! Another great video. I drive xt6 sport 2023 from August and I love its driving exprience with great engine power and sporty suspension. The cabin is roomy, specillay the third row. The sound system is great with Alexa music. My only complaint is that the middle seat in the bench dosen't have headrest! Also, it needs a refreshed interior design.
@carswithsonduren

True about the middle seats, but I have to say I was shocked with how much room there was even in the third row. Apparently the interior is being refreshed for 2020 for specifically introducing a screen similar to the Escalade and Lyriq. Honestly, we had this SUV for a week and I always wanted to get in and drive it. It was always fun.

Agree Sonduren, a good review. As far as im concerned, the caddy XT6 is a good SUV. I just got one and it does exactly what I need, haul a ton of crap. My family is small now that the kids are moved away but it does what I need...people complaining about the price...it's a middle-class/upper middle-class family/crap hauler with some advanced safety features. It's what cars in the mid range are. You want fancy...go top of the line Escalde V or Audi Q8/Q9 fully loaded or BMW X7.

Hi, Nice review! Did you get the impression in driving the XT6 that with the black leather the interior in the front seemed small...or smaller than one with a lighter interior would have? or smaller than comparable SUV's (Audi Q7, Acura MDX, etc.)? Also, what about road dampening suspension? Do both the Sport and Premium Luxury models have that, or does it come only with a package? Also, I'm concerned about seating comfort/support. For long hauls, do you think it provides enough bolstering? And how would you compare road noise to that in the Acura MDX, BMW X7, Audi Q7, etc? I don't like the interior console either. In some videos, that I've seen, that sliding cub-holder cover seems to make a dragging/scraping sound when it's being slid open, not quiet and springy like in other cars in that category. BTW, the main reason I'm considering the XT6 is that neither the Acura nor Audi nor BMW has 3rd row vents and I travel with a dog in a crate so absolutely need cooled air in this Texas heat. I would think that families with kids in the 3rd row would want that, too.

Who has 7 in their crew for these XT6?
@denniscali7544

I compete in AKC Obedience so need room for a dog crate and all the gear that I bring. With the seats folded flat, it seems perfect for that, especially since it has 3rd row vents, which the Acura, Audi, and BMW don't. And when I do need the seats for people, it seems to fit 7 comfortably (if the 2nd row is bench).

Too bad the trolls have nothing better to do than to throw their shade on a decent vehicle. Is the XT6 the best or even a great crossover? No. Is it good? Absolutely. Compared to a base Q7 in Canada, an AWD XT6 Sport with the 3.6 can be had for less than a Q7 Komfort with the 2.0T and its anemic 7.1 0-60. The Audi will require premium fuel (vs. regular for the XT6) and the Cadillac will be better equipped. At the Progressiv trim level, yup the Audi is 1/2 second faster to 60 mph. Wow. The catch? It's going to cost $12-15k more than a comparably equipped XT6 and it will still require premium fuel. An MDX-S? This one made my short list and probably bests the XT6 in a number of ways. Still, in Canada, it's almost unavailable; if you can find one, it will cost $10-12k more than the Cadillac. Regardless, I like the Acura quite a lot. An X7? Try $35-40k more than the XT6. Of course it's a better vehicle - one would expect that of a car that costs that much more. Lexus? There is no direct competitor (yet). With the Grand Highlander just recently introduced, Lexus has stated that they will have a version of it. IMO, the XT6 is in a sweet spot where it offers just enough utility, space, luxury features and performance to justify its price. If you prefer to buy a competitor from another brand, go for it - there's lots of choice and good reasons to pick any of these. And nobody needs to justify their choice to anybody but themselves. FWIW, we already have a recent model Q5 in the family fleet and it's a decent vehicle as well but it has not been as reliable as the Caddy so far and the XT6 out-features it by a wide margin. I've previously taken a Cadillac to 13 years and 300,000 kms before trading it away and I expect this one will serve us well for as long as we want it in our driveway.

100% all valid points and I agree (I have driven all these options). It’s mainly armchair warriors tbh who don’t know the advancements of the manufacturers in recent years. Honestly not only was I disappointed by the Q7, when we were looking for our own compact luxury SUV the Q5 was in last place in comparison to the competition. Also I’m a big Audi fan, I own a 2008 Audi R8. The reality is some manufacturers have rested on their previous success and the American manufacturers like Cadillac have stepped up with much more competitive offerings.

@@carswithsonduren Yeah, I remember an old YT vid you did about the R8. Lovely car, BTW and I'd be thrilled to have one in my driveway. I am on a waiting list for a CT5-V Blackwing and just hoping my dealership gets an allocation. The XT6 is my winter vehicle (I ski a lot) and it handles snowstorms with confidence and poise. Plan is to eventually trade it for a Lyriq when that allocation comes in (am on a list for that as well). We'll see if I trade the XT6 as it's larger than the Lyriq and it's nearly perfect for skiing, with or without friends.

Sorry folks, hard pass on this one. Crazy overpriced. You can get a far superior and much more reliable and intelligent Lexus for $20,000+ less. CR gave this a dismal 55%. Massive depreciation approaching 60% in 48 months. Caddy has old, unreliable grandpamobile vibes. Expert Score - 5/10 👎🏿

Overpriced junk with a lame zero-to120 km/h of 6.4 seconds. No one in their right mind would purchase this over a Q7, X7 or Acura MDX Type-S.

What does the Q7 or those other models have that this does not? I’ve driven them all and they are all comparable to one degree or another with each having their own pros and cons.
