I love the variety of these different types of cars. So much more interesting to watch than the current crop of supercars which are pretty much all the same.

You will be surprised to see how real this statement is when you pull the body shell off. The biggest difference between the Ford Mustang and Holden Commodore is the cylinder block and the driver. Everything else about them is the same. Same heads, cam, ecu, brakes, wiring harness, transaxle, gear ratios, suspension etc etc. That's why you will always find better racing in other categories that unfortunately don't get the recognition

Hell yeah, my urvan still has its stock z20s poor thing is very rusty though, my dad bought it in 2000 with 400,000 on the clock, its not got 372,000 on it again, unopened engine. Super reliable has had two water pumps and two alternators in that time, nothing else besides plugs leads, cap and rotor a few times. I want to rebuild it and put it in my sunny with a turbo, but i cant bare to pull the urvan apart.

@@seegee7728 No the other engine guy Derek did. We had lots of trouble keeping enough fuel to the engine when on boost, no MoTek or anything like that then. We used to try tricks like adjust the resistor track on the air flow meter and stuff like that. We would melt the turbo exhaust wheel and so on when we gave it too much boost, so while the boost was technically adjustable we had to be extremely careful. Definitely not the turn it up and blow past to other cars people think, that was a bit of 'a story' and a quick end to a turbo or engine.

@@kenny1034 I was suggesting a big enough change that would possibly exclude or at least prompt some rethinking from "Australian " companies. 2 liter, turbocharged 4wd European and Japanese. Will test the die hard V8 fans but if it all packs in the sun will still come up tomorrow. 😎👍

@@davidkeep6526 I understand where you're coming from but it would need to be a different series, V8 supercars was for many years a battle between Ford and Holden because they had home grown credibility. The current series isn't even based on the platforms they imitate, i.e. completely different chassis dimensions and setup, there's nothing left that connects these race cars to what we can buy on the showroom floor. I would love to see a return to production based homologation, I understand that Australian vehicles are not an option anymore but a return to the old group A series where Australian performance companies build race modified production vehicles would be a huge improvement over the sterile homogony that V8 supercars has become.

@@kenny1034 yeah I don't even mean V8's. Two litre, turbo 4wd maybe 700hp limit. Renault, Alfa, Peugeot, Nissan, Honda, Toyota etc. Then also some joint races in Europe and invites to teams to our premier races. Only hoping ! ( dreaming ! )😎👍
