Enable Bambi mode it allows your driving or fog lights to be on when your high beams are on. That’s a great forescan change to make. Also increase the number of soft blinks for the turn signals when the trailer is connected. KYD has a great video on that. Mine now blinks seven times instead of three when I tap the turn signal

I can tell you the Liquid Spring stuff is a game changer. We are running them on big F550 expedition trucks which ride like a dump truck but the handling afterwards feels like an F150. The fact that the suspension can change hundreds or thousands of times per second depending on road conditions, throttle input, etc is remarkable. The adjustable height for our off road applications is great, but also the ability to lower the truck significantly does help ingress & egress. We also love Carli too. The have progressive leaf springs that are epic... But you will want to supplement with airbags as you loose approx 25% of payload without the airbags supplementing. Took my father-in-laws 2019 3500 limited DRW to Carli after they complained of the ride when towing their 40' 5th wheel and they have been so thrilled since! Suspension is worth everything....

Congrats Chad and Tara on the new truck. We purchased an F350 Platinum for our tow vehicle and have never looked back. We’ve also encouraged two fiends to get SuperDuty trucks as well. A couple of things. (which I’ll email you from your website to follow up if you’re interested). First i use my upfitter switches to control my Victron DC-DC charger and a couple of separate USB ports that I installed in the top cubby on the dashboard. I also installed a BuiltRight Industries and 67 Designs dash mount system to hold our Furrion backup camera display, cell phone, garmin gps/TPMS monitor display. By putting a couple of multi-port USB ports on the top dash there are NO cables or charging cords dangling down in front of the dashboard. The only other thing I would have suggested was not getting the factory installed bedliner, they are not that great as they are put on AFTER the bed has been painted, so the bonding is not that good and it’s pretty easy to peel off. I suggest that you look at Bullet Bedliner and read some of it’s history with the popular Line-x brand. Take a look at their videos. I also followed your lead and put in a shotgun latch toolbox in the bed along with a tonneau cover. only difference is I went with a Reese GooseBox so that I could easily have my truck bed back without having to remove a big heavy hitch. more to come

Congratulations on the F450! We traded our 350 for a 2020 F450 King Ranch, mostly for the turning radius, but also for the 10 speed transmission. I was a bit concerned that the mileage would drop off when pulling our RiverStone Legacy since the 450 has the 4.30 rear end ratio, but with the 10 speed I am actually getting better mileage. Having higher horsepower might also benefit since the engine isn’t working as hard at the same speed. We were also wondering what the difference in ride was going to be like, but you really can’t feel any difference when towing. When we aren’t towing, it still isn’t very noticeable difference between the previous 350 and 450. Like you, we love the massaging seats!!!!

That is only on 1% of the situations on my daily driving. Other than that, I can manage if I adjust the speed just little when road gets bumpy and rough. I have F450 Limited on order since last Oct and am interested on any small tips to keep it as is or some simple upgrade like changing out shocks.

I work for an EMS agency. We run F450 extended cab chassis with a fairly large ambulance box. We have the liquid spring suspension system and honestly the ride is very smooth. I know the added weight of the box and equipment would make it smoother than on your trunk with a truck bed but they are nice because you can adjust different ride settings (comfort, normal, and sport). We keep ours on normal because the comfort setting allows too much body roll with the box being so too heavy.
@jfletcher4949

I agree. Liquid Spring is a game changer. There is a reason that 95% or so of all F450/F550 emergency rigs now go with it instead of air. But it does cost a bit and I believe you are best to find a shop that has installed many of them on F450 emergency rigs so they have plenty of experience.

For the ride quality, I suggest some adjustable shock absorbers. There are some companies like King that can build them to match the stock shocks without having to lift the truck. ** A little info on your Ambulance suspension question*** Most Ambulances have an onboard compressor filled, air-ride system. They have airbags, and sometimes get popped hitting railroad tracks or large potholes if you are driving too fast. They will deflate a little once the engine is turned off, so they have to stay plugged in. You can talk to a mechanic at an Ambulance service or an emergency apparatus mechanic in a town or city. They will educate you on what system is the best and most durable. It is a constant repair situation for busy Ambulances, so they are quite familiar with the systems. Man what a beauty. I love that turning radius. The one thing you will notice on the F450 is the tire wander. It will find a groove in the road and wander with it. Not every time, but you will have that. Something to do with the 19.5 inch tire construction. I like the idea of the adaptive steering, but not adaptive cruise control. I absolutely hate it on my wife's Honda Passport. You're also using cruise control much more because of your 4:30 gears. It makes a big difference. The F450 is a fantastic truck, but it is way overkill for our future upgraded RV. There reaches that point of diminishing returns, and 16k lbs certainly does not need a 450. So I ended up with a rebate mailed to me from Ford (over 30 years of them) only to find the order bank for the 2022's ended the week before. I drove the Ram, and it's very nice. I just think I want to stay with my Fords. So now I'm stuck waiting. And I'm not sure for how long. I'm glad you got yours. Enjoy. Pet Daisy for us, we're still missing ours.

Yessiree...a friend of ours has an F450 4x4 Powerstroke and the first thing said about it was "boy, it sure turns well". We'll be looking forward to all of the operational differences and improvements if any while in tow. Congratulations

The best setting I’ve changed for me on my F-150 Platinum is when I lock the doors with the remote the mirrors automatically fold in. A quick google search will get you an excel spreadsheet with everything you can change. I also had my truck ceramic coated. Game changer for sure.

Congratulations on your new your new ride have a 2020 450 King Ranch and tow a 21k DVR.With the Gen 3 Powerstroke and the 10 speed it's a Tow Monster. One comment on the adaptive cruise, if someone cuts in front of you to take a exit, it will suddenly apply brakes , which is a good thing, but will have cursing the driver and that maneuver.

These are nice. I looked for 6 months and researched for a year. No one makes a truck like this at this level. I bought a 2019 with 3000 miles just like this truck in metallic gray. The few thing different is in 2020 they went to a 10 speed tanny and moved the antenna to the rear of the cab. It came from the factory with the spray in liner and the 5th wheel puck system. The turning radius is a game changer that wide track front end and those rims and tires are a great option of the F350

Congratulations on the new truck! Get yourselves a banks ram-air differential cover and cold air intake. Better towing mileage, cooler diff and better EGT’s/MPG’s (intake) - you won’t be disappointed - installed them both myself. Good idea on the rapid-heater and engine block heater... Have those on my 2014, great features. They come in handy a lot up here in Maine haha. The AMP bed steps already mentioned are also great ideas. A little pricier, but I find I get better mileage and wear protection using amsoil in both the 6.7 and the diff. I know you’ve been down the DEF road before (I don’t have a DPF, heh) - make sure you use a good additive like Stanadyne since you’ll likely be keeping that on.

My F450 Crew Cab 4x4 rides like a dreamy smooth Cadillac pulling my heavy 5th wheel going down the highway. I used Air Lift Load Lifter 7500 XL air bag kit @ 25 - 30psi in the rear and Air Lift air bags in the front @ 15 - 20psi plus Bilstein shocks. I run low pressure in the air bags because I don't need them for raising the truck up any but just to smooth out the bumps. When running around empty I run 10psi in the rear (minimum recommended air pressure) and 10psi in the front air bags (5psi minimum recommended air pressure). The Bilstein shocks help a lot over the stock shocks with the little sharp bumps and joints in concrete roads and the air bags smooth out the big bumps. It's a great combination. The empty ride is still stiffer than a 1/2 ton pickup of course, but hey it's a heavy duty hauler!

Love your channel, keep up the great work. In a couple years we will be ordering our new retirement setup! It will be our biggest rig yet. We are going with F450 dually and Jayco Pinnacle 38FLGS which is 44 feet long as well. Can't wait to have our new setup. I noticed your phone mount is nearly identical to the QuadLock stuff I have. They actually have a charge head that charges your phone without having to plug a cable into the phone, just plug it into the head. If you have power up on top of the dash, you could eliminate one of the cords dangling down. Love your vids, keep up the great work! We are in NC as well. I need to check into that ceramic coating shop!

I have a F350 that looks just like yours. I can't believe you didn't show one of the coolest features. The camera washer in the front emblem. Be ready for lots of admiring truck lovers. I get compliments everywhere. One issue I found is leaving the truck with fob 3 times, it will disable the automatic running boards.

I too had mine ceramic coated and also did Xpel film on some of the leading edges for more protection. I installed Firestone 7500 airbags just to level head lights out when towing. Didn’t have a lot of sag but just enough and I think they help on some of the rough roads when pulling our New Horizons 5thwheel. Oh the turning radius !!!!

Pro tip about the supplemental heater; it does not work if the thermostat is on auto. For it to work/come on you have to turn the thermostat up all the way, turn the fan on to your desired setting (basically turn off AUTO) and pick which vent setting you want. It basically has to be used like an old school cab climate controls. I was frustrated because my truck has it however it would never get warm unless I used remote start. So I knew it was working. In talking with my service guy we came up with what I wrote above and it’s warm within a couple of minutes. Also, if you add a trailer to the back-up system, the truck will account for that additional length in the adaptive cruise control

I only use cruise control on the flats and when entering a steep grade climb I pedal into the climb creating speed bypassing cruise control and preventing a huge rpm jump and gear drop. I use a large external transmission cooler and cooling fan. Towing 7-8000 pounds on a 1/2 ton hottest I’ve seen it with external temps at 40 degrees accelerating up a 10% grade the transmission oil temp was around 175-180 degrees F and once I crested the top and planed out the trans temp would drop down to 120-133 within a 1-2 mile run after a hill I hear owners are swapping from 19.5 rims to 22” and from what I’ve heard and read that it made a deference. Air bags will only bounce more when driving I own a 3500 HD and it has the overload springs on it. It rides rough, but I am in the process of adding suspension parts to make the ride better : kryptonite front end parts and steering stabilizer with updated drag link (futuristic) , bilstein 5700 shocks in the front, and longer sway bar pins due to the leveling kit on the truck. Good shocks are key.
