@@CarsWithSteve I’m looking into the base XL 2WD just for work really. But I do have kids and kinda want the larger crew cab but then I lose a foot in the back. I figure I won’t go on long trips so the kids really won’t need the extra cab space plus they are small. As much as I’d like the 4x4 I don’t think it’s a necessity for small hauling around town. And feed back you might have I’ll take.

@@michaeladams2077 With young kids and you needing the extra bed space it sounds like the SuperCab is the better fit for you. 4x4 vs 4x2 is really the difference of winter handling - if you live in a state without much snow the 4x2 would be fine. 4x4 will handle better in snowy conditions

I hope that the new Ranger is better than the older versions. I had a 2013 Ranger and regret the decision to purchase the vehicle. The first thing that I found strange was the fact that the acceleration was very slow (diesel version). The main problem however was the fact that my engine got irreparably damaged after only seven years of use. It appears that the oil pump stopped working and by the time there was any indicator on the instrument panel that something was wrong it was too late. Go for the Toyota Hilux instead.
@CarsWithSteve

From different forums the Ranger diesel did have some issues but there haven't been many since the reintroduction of the Ranger in North America with the 2.3L EcoBoost. It's going for a redesign for the 2023 model year so here's to hoping it gets some nice upgrades

Maybe you can discuss with your Ford contacts the following item and provide feedback here. A quote obtained for the lights that Ford deleted from Lariat that customers ordered (not built before May 2022) totals $3,841.27 + tax. Ford is providing a total credit of $500 for these Rangers for involuntarily downgrading the lights to halogen... In addition, if you check the cost of Equipment package 501A, you'll see it costs the same for the SuperCab and SuperCrew models. Reading the contents you'll see the SuperCab model gets the Bang & Olufson stereo system where the SuperCab does not. This is how Ford does business.
@CarsWithSteve
2 жыл бұрын
You could always look at aftermarket LED bulbs instead of getting the whole assembly replaced. Wouldn't look quite the same but would give you a light equally as bright for a fraction of the cost. ($300 US from most suppliers) The speaker system one is kind of weird.. but at the same time the SuperCrew does cost more than the SuperCab
@browning308
2 жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve - Thank you for the reply. Installing LED bulbs into a housing intended for a halogen bulb might yield an increase in light emitted, however, this still pales in comparison to an assembly designed and manufactured for an LED bulb. LED bulbs usually get much hotter than halogens also. This is why many bulbs have a cooling fan built into the base.

Great and very complete video. Does the XLT Ranger 4x4 has any type of under body skid/bash plates? Or would I have to upgrade to the FX4 of Tremor packages to get them?

Thanks! Not much protection without added packages but you do have the option of getting just the skid plates installed aftermarket if you don't want the full FX4 or Tremor pack

@@moncho33 agree with you on that one. The suspension in the FX4 will make the regular ride a bit rougher and you'll have slightly more road noise from the tires but the pros of the FX4 pretty much outweigh the cons

Hey Steve, great look at the Ranger. I'm glad you specified the differences between the factory ordered trailer hitch receiver and the dealer/aftermarket trailer hitch receiver towing capabilities. Would you happen to know the specific reason for the difference? What is the change from a Ford hitch bolted in at the factory or a Ford hitch bolted in at the dealer. Look forward to hearing your insight to this. Cheers from Manitoba.
@CarsWithSteve
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, good catch on that detail. I should probably mention the reasoning a bit more in the videos. It has to do with the GCWR. Without the tow package it’s 7,650 lbs - 9,000 lbs vs a bump to 12,500 lbs - 12,500 lbs with the tow package. So could an aftermarket hitch handle the same weight.. technically.. but it’s going above OEM recommended weight

There's always a trade off for build materials and pricing. It's why Hyundai and Kia vehicles are so cheap with so many features. There's a sacrifice on the dash and plastics to be cheaply made to be able to pack different features of options into the cars. But having said that.. the Ranger definitely needs an upgrade
