Just bought this bike and is my first Harley. Haven’t road in years, use to ride dirt bikes. The handling and nimbleness is so great on this bike that I would say that it is a great options for beginners just because of how easy it is to control. Also the power is pretty forgiving

I agree with your "Respect the power" idea. I bought my first bike last year (at age 50) and was asking my riding buddies for advice and the best advice I got was "don't get a smaller engine". You can always "baby" the throttle on a bigger engine, but you can't twist a throttle to get more power out of a smaller engine. Best advice ever!

I tell my friends all the time I say the 1200 sportster is the perfect beginner bike because it has plenty of power and you won’t grow out of it too fast and the weigh is manageable until you learn how to ride more because it’s never the power that’s scary it’s balancing the weight when coming to a stop and learning to pick up and getting comfortable with the weight of the bike

The Lower Riders are now certainly the stand-out models in the Harley range. However, I’m 6’2” with a 32” inside leg and I find the mid controls make these bikes unrideable. I would have relocated both gauges at eye level and tidied up the tank with a FatBob one. Don’t get increasing suspension height by an inch, just makes the bike look awkward. This will be the fastest cruiser but it is never going to be a sports bike.

Excellent video and indeed, don't hold back on voicing your opinions on what you like and what you don't. If people want a bland presentation, they can just read the specs and rotate the bike on Harley's site :) I was a bit torn on what to replace my Iron with. Even though the Lowrider S costs the same as the Fatbob (and is "better", having bigger engine and beefier air-filter), I went for Fatbob since I really really like the looks of it and I don't know... it felt "just right" when I test rode it. Now the problem is that I can't get a date on when it will arrive heh, let's hope everyone goes for a Lowrider S and the Fatbobs are overlooked for a bit! Keep up the good work o/

I like all the updates to the 2022 Low Rider S. I think they could’ve used the center console and gauge off the Softail Slim. It would’ve kept that classic look, but put the gauge in an more visible position. That being said, the changes to the 2022 Low Rider S aren’t enough to tear me away from the Fat Bob. Sick bike and a true performer! After the sportster s, the LRS has the best torque to weight ratio of all the lineup (and lower down the rpm range than the sportster s, of course). Even if you consider HP rather than torque, the LRS is the best M8 performer (only the new revolution engine-based models have a higher HP/weight ratio). Awesome review, as usual :) Cant wait to see a full review of the lrs st to see whether the fairing and bags are worth the money difference (love the fairing, but it bugs me it's not detachable, only want the fairing for those truly long-distance trips. Anyways, keep up the good work!

Thanks for your honest take on the bike. I've realized after having forward controls on a few of my bikes that mids are really more comfortable for me. The riding position doesn't look as cool but having my feet under me takes some of the pressure off my butt and back. I also had issues with my right knee coming in contact with the stock air filter cover on my Street Bob. As for the gauge position, I prefer the position on the 2022 since it's easier to see and gives the tank a more streamlined look. Btw, I'm 5'6" and can easily flat foot the bike. The bars are a slight reach. The fairing is good enough at 70-80 mph to keep some of the pressure off your chest for 1-2 hours without fatigue. I also agree that IF (make that a big IF) you're respectful of the power and weight it can be a first bike. If you're not respectful of the power and weight the bike will give you plenty of rope to hang yourself.

I learned on a used $2000 Honda. When I didn't put down the kick stand first, as if I was riding a bicycle, no big loss. Also I never did that again. Now I have a 20 Street Bob. If there were 2 analog gauges on the handlebars I would be all in on this bike. As it is the single gauge looks like my old Sportster. Missed opportunity by Harley IMO. Now if it had 2 gauges and cruise control I would have already bought this bike.

Harley seems to be the IPhone of motorcycles. Has a cult following and makes a beautiful product, but purposely leaves out features so they can sell the better version a year later, while it’s competition gives you all the features you want for a lower price. But the competition doesn’t matter because they are “Harley Davidson!”

The new low rider s is more a super glide imo. The low rider st is more a sport glide st. Especially when you look at the fxr sport glide. I prefer the st version to all other bikes. But i prefer the 2021 low rider s. Compared to the 2022. That 3 ci is not much of a selling point to me. The styling on the 2021 is far superior to the what i'm calling the 2022 fxd s Edit: fxb s

You did a great job pointing out the main differences for this bike MY22, Blair. Thank you. In my opinion you missed 2 things: 1. No RDRS. I would have expected this to be at least an option as it is an important safety feature. 2. No cruise control from factory. As you pointed out rightfully, 400$ higher cost for a ton of more value. But the CC didn't make it? SMH I know it's in the options catalog but then the cable runs outside the handlebars which looks just half ass. Both the S and ST (cannot wait for your take on the ST) are serious alternatives to a grand touring model in my opinion. With a little customization I can make both bikes a comfortable touring bike. Why would Harley go that route and introduce such a competition in their own lineup? #scratching my head in particular because they shied away from discontinuing the 107 in the touring lineup. If I want that kind of power(117), I get the ST and still come in below the price for a SG with 107. Really like to understand the thought process behind the decision 🤔. I respectfully disagree on your opinion who can ride such a bike. I started on a Road King 7 years ago and never looked back. It is about respecting the bike and riding it within your hopefully growing skill level and everything will be fine. No need to buy small first in my opinion. Love your videos, sir. Ride safe 🤙

Is the extremely limited numbers I've been hearing about the ST version true? I read a comment in another video stating that they were only going to have about 300 nationwide. Would be killer to see the Low Rider S in the new Redline Red finish, ditching the bronze accent for black. I think the bike in black looks great though. The grey color looks really good as well, but I don't think the bronze goes well with it. I haven't seen them in person though, so I bet in person they both look killer.

I can tell you from personal experience the forward controls on the Sportster S are not comfortable on long rides and do not inspire confidence in the corners at all. I took mine to The Dragon 2 weeks after I got mine in the first of October and the 5 hour ride out there was fine... the ride back was bad. Really bad. I could barely get 50-70 miles before I needed a good break.

Even though they’re not as functional, I love the twin gauges and the twin gas caps. That’s one change you didn’t mention, the twin gas caps are now gone 😰 The rear suspension was too low, made the bike feel low at the back and it handled accordingly. So putting in the taller shock, with more travel (that shock is also on the Fat Bob and Heritage) was a good idea. It’s one of the first changes people were making anyway, thanks to companies like Nitron who offer the adjustable length eyelets and different lengths of eyelets for their Harley shocks. Twin disc brakes should be standard on all the Harleys. Well at least on more models. Eg Ride a fat boy with the single disc, then ride the low rider s, huge difference. With the twin disc low rider s, you have much more confidence coming into the corners and all you need is a finger or two on the brake lever
