I bought one for my wife as a birthday gift and she absolutely loves it. Friends will ride it and immediately fall in love; even the Harley guys around the block think its a fun little machine. It's perfect for trips around town to pick up groceries or visit a friend. I highly recommend it as a neat addition to your collection or for someone who wants to ride on 2 wheels without the complexity of a standard motorcycle.

I adore scooters. And I'm a big fan of this classic look. I do wish Honda made a scooter that LOOKED like this, but had a 125 or 150 cc engine instead. I had a Yamaha Vino 125 and a Kymco Like 150 and loved both of those. But I don't know that that'll ever happen in the USA because that would potentially steal sales of their own Super Cub. Either way, I miss having a scooter. A lot.

Am going to add the trunk accessory so I can pick up a few grocery's or a 12 pack. Manly ? I'm a known person, won't be anyone serious throwing grief with any sense to them. Back when I was 15, I had a little Honda 50 & the fun I had riding it set the stage for a lifetime of riding. Now retired & no longer a distance A to B rider, having fun like a kid again on a little Vespa style bike sounds like the thing to do. I may even pull it up to a few "Biker" bars & strut inside. Its amazing how opinions can change when a known person rides 1 for fun & games.

My only hesitation in getting one of these is if it will go up fairly steep hills. I only want to use this to ride to the beach in Kona, but the hills around me are pretty decent. sea level t0 600ft in a mile and then up to 1200ft in 3 miles. I don't need to go fast, but still need to get there and back. Anyone have any data on grade % it can handle?
@HondaProKevin

I don't have any exact numbers on percentage grades in comparison to how fast you'll be able to go up it etc but I've taken these up some pretty steep hills so I have a little experience there. Depending on your weight of course, you won't have a problem making it up what you mentioned but you won't be doing it at 30-35mph, it'll slow down a touch but you'll definitely get pulled up without a problem. Hopefully someone with more experience on actual grades can chime in though, wish I had a more scientific answer for you on that one bud lol ;)

@@HondaProKevin @HondaPro Kevin Just an update I'd like to share with you. After watching this video some time last month, I've been on a month long quest to look for a scooter to buy, and I finally did yesterday. Drove all the way to FL from TX just to pick it up. However, I did not get the Metropolitan due to its small engine size so I got a 2010 Honda SH 150i with 153cc, which I think has more than enough oomph to get around without getting ran off the streets by cars. Even though I've only had it for a day, I already know this thing is gonna be a blast to ride and I'm sure my R1 will just sit there and collect dust for awhile, haha. You, sir, have convinced me to get a scooter 🛵, something I never even thought of buying, ever. 👏

@@HTX-pk6mu lol that is awesome man! Thanks for sharing... after 15 years of getting to hear firsthand experiences like this from customers, I don't get to anymore and I miss it so thank you! Funny story, I had a memory pop up on Facebook the other day from when the SH150i first released and I was playing around on one full tuck for a picture lol. The only thing that killed that scooter here in the states was its price tag. If my memory is correct, it was around $4,500 and people just didn't want to pay that for a 150 here in the states whereas overseas it was a massive hit. That's why the PCX was such a hit when it first released as it gave you the SH model's performance but $1,000 cheaper when new back in the day. That little thing will fly for what it is too, you did well on picking one that you'll actually be able to use on the streets and not worry about getting ran over. You got a good one bud, take care of it and it'll last for decades without having to sink money into it. Ride safe and thanks again for touching base with the update, as cheesy as it sounds, you made my day lol ;)

Those are the people I love to watch change their mind though after tooling around on one for a little bit lol. 100% agree on the charging port. Thankfully that's starting to make its way to more and more models so I'd say we'll see that added to the next refresh of the Metropolitan. You could always throw a trunk on one and a trunk pad as a backrest but then you've got to do the whole "gangsta lean" lol unless you're a giant and slide all the way back. I wish Honda would play around more with backrests like they did on the Big Ruckus, that was super cool being able to slide it up for yourself and then if you wanted to carry a passenger just fold it down and you're good to go.

Kevin one last thing. Do you think the nee metro would do ok in light trails , mountain fire trails by maybe replacing the tires to a more aggressive tire?
@HondaProKevin
3 жыл бұрын
Technically, they would be close if we're not counting tires. The Ruckus has 1.93 in. of suspension travel up front and the Metro has 2.72 in. of travel whereas the Ruckus has 2.56 in. of travel in the rear compared to the Metro at 2.36 in. of travel. So it's give and take, the Metro has more front suspension travel but the Ruckus has more in the rear. The wider wheel on the Ruckus allows for a wider tire so even if you were to change tires you're not going to be able to get something exactly like the Ruckus without more modifications. However, you could still change the tire and be better off-road than it was with the stock tires but it could be negligible depending on the terrain etc. Just keep in mind that dropping the Metro will start adding to the repair bill as you have more to crack, break etc than you do on the Ruckus if you're wanting to hop off-road.

In all honesty and maybe somebody can answer me this so the MSRP is 2499. Does that work the same way as it does with cars for example. My car's MSRP was 16000 and whenever I left the dealer I paid 20050 so if this little scooter is 2499 what are you really paying? is it 3000 4000 or 5000?

They need to put the 110 Navi engine in the ruc and met, most people don’t buy them because main roads are typically 40-50 mph and they are simply to slow for American roads and overweight riders. This is only really meant for petite ladies and guys that are lame enough to pick this over a ruckus 😂
@HondaProKevin

lol! ...and I agree 100%! The Ruckus and Metro desperately need a displacement bump, if you want to actually get out on the road it's just borderline dangerous 99% of the time.

What are the dealer fee's when you buy one of these scooters. I have heard that dealer fee's are ridiculous in the US. Maybe 7 or 800 dollars. They never mention this when the price is shown which is very dishonest.

I can see this little cute thing fit wells in college campus in America. Wbere else could you drive it, with 40MPH top speed?
@HondaProKevin

You nailed it, college campuses and if you live / work downtown or just have short little errands to run with back roads or as pit bikes. Plus a lot of people throw them on the back of their campers. It's definitely one of those "specialty" models where it's not something everyone should buy and they need to know what they're getting into speed-wise before it's too late.

Looks exactly like my 2017 with slightly better gas mileage. Not a fan of the new colors. I picked mine up for $1500 with 22 miles on it through a private sale. Any recommendations on easy ways to get a little more speed/power out of it? I’m no mechanic no a bore kit is t something I could do on my own.

That's a smoking deal! You're not going to see any major increases without really sinking a ton of money into it but the cheapest and easiest thing I would do first is upgrading the variator and then going from there ;)

Honestly, if Honda would just build the Ruckus with under seat storage, I'd be sold. The Ruckus reminds me of my old Yamaha BWS50 I had after high school, I miss it, and the Ruckus really has similar design queues I like. This just doesn't do it for me design wise...
