Honda is a great machine. Its only downfall is its built in South Carolina.

in calgary myself wont go to calgary honda again. had a frame issue on a rancher 420 sra they wouldn't warranty in 2013 broke right were the rear swing arm attached unit had 520kms. they said i was towing to much when i never had the unit hooked up once to a trailer or even pulled a log with it. ended up welding it back up replacing a driveshaft myself and sold the quad. ive owned 1 honda since and it was actually always problematic a rincon 680, when it broke parts costed me more then a canam and gave me half the fun.

Thankfully, I took out a 5 year Honda extended warranty when I bought my 2022 Rubicon FA6. I'm sorry you have had such bad luck. If Honda cared about their brand equity they would help you out.

I’m looking to replace my 450 S. I can’t decide between the foot shift foreman without power steering or the Rubicon foot shift with power steering. It’s more work than fun, what I need it for. Tradition says go SRA. It really sucks that even Honda is trying to kill SRA’s.. in the USA you can get the foreman foot shift with power steering and in Canada you cannot. Starting to wonder if the 2008 to 2011 Foreman air cooled with power steering and no diff lock is the way to go. Really want that dif lock though..

We’re you spinning in snow with the front wheels hopping up and down? You have to let off the gas when they do that or something is gonna break. That’s about the only way to break the frame there imo.

Yes the wheels have hopped in the snow many times, but no where near as much as my Kodiak 450 had in 4000km of aggressive use. Also in several thousand km's of aggressive riding on various Can-Am 800 and 1000's, never ripped a diff out....so point still remains that this happening on a 28HP Honda is very very disappointing.

I'm about to trade my kodiak 450 2022 that I really hate because of the vibration and free play in the drive train for a 2023 rubicon foot shift.... I wish I had not seen your video. But thanks anyway !!

How’d did you ever make out with this bike? I was wanting to buy a new Honda 520

Both the dealership and Honda were useless in offering any help. So I cut out broken parts and welded up several spots. The front diff mount area was/is super weak and the starting point of break. Admittedly, I was rather saddened by how cheesy the frame mounts for the front diff were, very thin steel and nearly no additional gusseting.

@@tetleytoes it’s really sad Honda didn’t offer anything. But I heard the same with there small engines also. They don’t want to warranty anything. Makes you wonder if the new stuff is actually as good as the old stuff. I had a bunch of Hondas. Still got some. I had a 2005 I put through hell and back. 10000kms. Did whatever you could imagine to it and it was bulletproof. One wheel bearing and a tilt sensor for electric shift. I even twisted the rear hitch and that’s not easy to do. I’m going to have to look at the front differential mounting on the new ones.

@@Robert-uh6bx Yeah I was a rather loyal Honda person most of my life but not anymore. I had several TRx250R's that went through hell and back without a whimper and still have a 2003 CRF230 that gets beat beyond belief, but when I look at parts of my Rubicon frame I know new Honda is not like old Honda. There is a diff brace kit I found and installed on both ends after repair, but I never thought I'd ever have to add bracing to a Honda frame...

my dad I both had a bunch of Hondas. I had a ATC 250r, couple 350x, got a couple big reds 250es. Was debating on a new 520 or a 700 pro can am. Wanted to buy a Honda because I figured it last me a long time. My dad got a 2018 I’m guessing rubicon 500 with about 6500 with no issues at all yet. Just gas and oil changed. Foot shift. That’s what I was going to get.

@@Robert-uh6bx I've put several thousand km's on various Can-am ATVs and really liked the ride and power. But bought this Rubicon knowing it would be slow and more "big red like" cause I didn't want a CVT tranny again and all the fancy electronic stuff. Really thought I'd be a gas and go machine like several friends who have 2005 to 2012 Honda Foreman with thousands more km's than mine have been...which is why I was/am so dismayed at my frame break. When you have a chance look at bottom of front diff mount on Rubicon 520: the nuts are welded to frame and metal is very thin, so didn't take much for the nuts to begin separating from frame allowing front of diff to move slightly, eventually ending in damage as per my video I needed that mounting area up twice as thick so it should never happen again😤

If the Rincon had a low range, I would have for sure. I've been on rides with Rincons and they struggle in parts of our terrain without low range though. Even though the Rubicon has less power, the ultra low first gear helps save itself quite often.

@@remotetrapper8991 Im certain you are wrong, yes it has a larger engine. But that does matter when you have a three speed automatic Honda civic style transmission. The Rincon is geared much much lower than ANY other Honda quad by a huge margin and the extra displacement doesn't even come close to making up for that. Even with a gear reduction. it will still be geared much lower. A Rincon 680s lowest ratio is 17.7 it comes to just below 21 with a gear reduction. a stock rubicon is going to have 58 to 53 depending on model. Even with portals you'd be looking at a comparable ratio to a stock rubicon. only way to build these as mud bikes is tires under 28 inches, gear reduction, and motor built for high compression. they make best trail/wood hauling machines more then anything
