I have the same model. Did not like the low wide bars. Ordered 1 3/4" risers off eBay and cut 1 1/4" off each bar end. (Had to re-install the bar end inserts with JB weld) to re-install the bar end weights. Much more comfortable set up without having to buy new handlebars.

I want one of these so bad. I'm intimidated by the weight. I haven't been on a bike in 20 years but I have a lot of off road experience. Granted the weight was half of this. I want to get back on one.

Nice! I got mine a few months ago and ready to do some Moto camping this weekend. In case you haven't figured out where that squeak is coming from, it's where the black plastic trim piece goes on the fairing. I popped it off, put a small piece of gaffers tape in the hole and cut a little slot for the peg to go through. Problem solved. Have fun with the modifications! It's a great bike (unless you're a sour KLR hater)

Great first feeling on this bike. Enjoyed seeing your first mile. I was looking at the Himalayan and sat on the KLR and figure that I would want the KLR. Looking at this winter to purchase, but looking at moving to Tennessee early next year and not sure if I will wait till I move. Thank you!

Good call, the KLR is a much better machine than the Himalayan. Both on and off road.

Wow what a deal you got, that bike is selling like hot cake for $8K everywhere. MSRP out the door that is unheard of. It is funny hearing your first impressions compared to my own impressions after owning it for 2 months. 1. There is no cure for that windscreen, wind buffering is an issue. The bike is very easy to ride, the ergonomics are super comfortable, the bars are perfect, the seat is super comfortable, the only issue with that bike is the lack of power, it pulls well up until 55 mph and then it has nothing, the single thumper runs out of juice pretty quickly, so to me this is a bike with all the ergonomics for long distance travels but it has an engine for in town local rides only. It is too heavy and big for any serious off roading, doesn’t have the engine for being a long distance adventure bike, so it is best as a local commuter. Most people buy this bike for its legacy, it is legendary, sentimental value, but in terms of practicality and performance there are other better options out there. What this bike has going for it, is its price, you can go off roading in comfort for less than $8K. Be prepared to invest on a new windshield.

Thanks for the review. As soon as you got to the round about I knew what part of Nevada you're in (was thinking it looked familiar from the satrt). Been though that particular one many times on my trips between CA and ID.

Cool. I purchased one in November. Was my first time riding a dual sport too but I’m converted now. It’s big, slow, heavy, and reliable but tons of fun on both off-road and the highway/street. Just took it across the state of Florida from Pensacola to Miami and back in terrible weather and still had a blast.

I’m 6’2 and my new 2022 klr has put the wind in my face no matter what I’ve tried, all positions, extensions, risers, etc. I hope someone makes a new windscreen for it for tall riders. A commenter said he added a clip on extension from Amazon and got relief, they are about 25$ and may be my next attempt.

I bought a a new traveler in Columbia Kentucky . How you like the way it shifts?
@johnbutler9012
2 жыл бұрын
I tend to hit neutral a bit more than normal. The fact that I'm wearing different boots/shoes all the time is probably contributing. The shifting is nothing exciting. It shifts easy, doesn't bind, doesn't slip out of gear. It isn't as smooth as my KX450. It feels like 80's technology haha

Dual sport? I think you meant Adventure Motorcycle . No dual sport weighs 415+ pounds 😂 Sick bike though!
@johnbutler9012
2 жыл бұрын
Oh the great debate. I almost called it "Adventure Motorcycle" in the video but I saw people were a bit more consistent with "Dual Sport". It's probably known more as a "dork bike" to some haha. Defiantly not picking up a lot of girls on it. If you put the bike on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most off-road capable and 1 being the most on-road capable, I'd probably give it a 6. It's almost right down the middle, maybe favoring a little more off-road.
