I have owned my first Nautilus Reserve for a week now and love it. I have been an avid Audi driver but got tired of the German maintenance costs. The Lincoln dealership here is actually “fancier” than the German ones- and yes US has standalone Lincoln dealers. Talking about dealerships: I considered and test drove the GV70 as well and the Genesis dealerships feel less than adequate and the customer service was haphazard at best, even just to schedule a test drive. And while the GV70 is sportier with a better exterior aesthetic, I felt that the Nautilus delivers more bang for your $$. Better interior, better sound system, quieter ride, more solid feel and better customer service. Great performance on the 2,7l. I don’t like the plastic trim either but think I made the right choice with the Nautilus.

I’ve been looking/driving, at everything in the class yet I can’t find anything that rides like her’s. I think I might have to buy a 2021 Naultalis, it’s infotainment screen is very nice and I don’t want to spend the money on Brand New so I’m trying to find a 2021 but it’s difficult now, not the best time to buy a used vehicle or a house I’m finding out..

I really like your reviewing style. Normal guy style; not trying to over-Hollywood other reviewers (you can tell when someone's trying too hard). I love the Nautilus; it has it all and drives like a dream. DEFINITELY does not drive or feel like a Ford, and I can't believe they're discontinuing it after the 2023 model. It's a beautiful design; inside and out, it is far more beautiful than the similarly-priced BMW, Audi, Lexus, Acura, Genesis, and all others I have seen. Incidentally, there are plenty of standalone Lincoln dealerships in the US (well, at least in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas anyway).

Test drive a Corsair yesterday, your spot on with you opinion. I drive a 2017 MKX, best vehicle I’ve ever owned. The salesman said to me as he handed me the keys to the Corsair that I’m likely going to be disappointed in the ride/noise quality coming from the MKX. Sure enough he was correct. Looks like I’m going to look for a 2021 Naultalis, both will be in the driveway soon. Wife says she will be happy to drive the older MKX, I’m sure that won’t last..

I leased the 2019 Nautilus and loved it so much I got the 2022 after my 4 year lease. Minor issues with massage seat and battery drain after 3.5 years - but all covered under warranty and maintenance plan. Bear in mind Lincoln lease rate for 2022 was 5.49% so even if this car is same MSRP as German brands their lease rates are over 8% so it’s not the same price. The power of this car in sport is a beast with premium fuel - this car will beat most SUV rivals in straight line. IMO best looking interior with wireless apply car play - can’t beat it!

@charless.6146

Nice review. Only thing I disagree with was the comment about the multiple drive modes being unneeded. One of the main reasons I'm buying a 2022 Nautilus Black Label is the Comfort Mode. I've been driving a 2011 Ford Edge Limited since I bought it new. When I decided I need a new car the first thing I looked at was another Ford Edge, current year. I'm 70, not looking for excitement -- I want comfort and luxury. I think the base engine in the 2022 Ford Edge/lower tier Lincoln Nautilus is underpowered. My Edge has a 3.5 liter naturally aspirated 6-cyl making ~300hp and it's barely adequate, in the Edge that's so similar to the Nautilus, lighter weight even. So I need the larger Edge/Nautilus 2.7 liter turbo engine. But the only way to get that engine in an Edge is to get the ST model, which also has a performance-tuned suspension, making a hard ride, disqualifying it for me. I need a SOFT ride. So that led me naturally to the new Nautilus. Overall the car looks very good to me, and one of its main attractions is the huge LCD infotainment display. I completely disagree with commenters who were complaining about this. I do have some problems with the new Nautilus tho (still waiting to get notified that it's been scheduled for production, haven't heard yet). The GPS map on the main display seems to use soft pastel colors and white road markers, making it very hard to read. It badly needs more contrast. I consider this a major mistake by the Nautilus designers. So I may be doomed to have to use waze.com via the Android Auto connection all the time, and would much prefer to be able to use the car's organic GPS system. I am hoping they can fix this in one of their over-air system updates. Also I'm red-green color blind and would love to have alternate user-selectable color schemes. The driver's LCD display behind the steering wheel is a major disappointment. In this era of multi-color flashy driver displays with animation, Lincoln kept the old boring monochrome display even tho they upgraded other aspects of the dash. In fact my 2011 Ford Edge has more color and choices in the driver's display than this 2022 Lincoln Nautilus. Ridiculous. Another main issue is with the air conditioner vents. They are SMALLER than before. Air conditioning loves air flow, and I worry whether this car can be adequately cooled in hot weather. Why did they have to change the air conditioning vents? What was wrong with the original ones? I absolutely hate the mandatory engine start-stop defaulting to Enabled every time you turn this car on. I should default to Disabled, not Enabled. I DO NOT WANT my engine to turn off when I'm driving this car, even when I'm stopped at a light. I do not believe that this crazy scheme saves gas since the engine will use extra gas every time it restarts, plus I think the restart mode generates additional air pollution. So now every single time I start up this car I will need to input two additional steps to turn this damn thing off. VERY bad choice by the Nautilus designers. I hope they can issue an update that defaults this terrible idea to Disabled on startup.
@robertmurdock7530
2 жыл бұрын
I agree with the start/stop garbage. It's got to be hard on the starter. There's probably a way to disable it, as there are videos that show how to do it on other vehicles.
@charless.6146
2 жыл бұрын
@@robertmurdock7530 I think start/stop is a legislative or regulatory requirement. But I don't know if it's also required to default to Enabled. Lincoln claims that they have strengthened the starters to withstand the higher duty cycle created by this crazy idea. There is a product that plugs in to the OBD-2 socket under the dash, driver's side, that mechanics plug their diagnostic systems into, for some cars, that will permanently disable start-stop. I communicated with the company that makes them. They do not have one for the Nautilus. Not yet anyway.
@Jac0b22

The engine stop start is a government mandate and you will find pretty much all cars made in the last 3 years with that feature
@charless.6146

@@Jac0b22 YES but does the government mandate require that the engine stop start be defaulted to Enabled? Or is it just that it be available in the car? If the latter, Lincoln should have it defaulted to Disabled, with a driver option to Enable it. The damn thing drives me crazy.

Hmm, I stopped by the local Lincoln dealer today to check out the Nautilus and they had one on the showroom floor. It looked great at first, but unfortunately, it just seems small and cramped to me. With the driver's seat adjusted for me, the reach to the window controls in front of the armrest is so far that I had to lean forward to reach them. The seat cushions are very short and not wide enough, almost like they are made for kids. The interior seems pretty bare bones in the Reserve trim level that I saw. There is no direct access switch for the heated steering wheel. For a two row CUV, the cargo area seems very small to me, and the sloped roof line at the back reduces usable space. I guess if you are never going to carry much of anything, that's okay. Now, I then looked at an Aviator in the Black Label trim, and that is more like it!

Ford still owns shares in Jaguar and Mazda. Since the 60s and 70s Ford owned Aston Martin, Jaguar, LandRover, Cummins, Mazda, and so on. Ford was smart and instead of bankruptcy they started selling all car Factory's they owned. Volvo was 1st to go and so on. Couple they keep shares in to keep there body designs from being sold around. Then I noticed GM has copied most of Ford's designs and changed the front rear Clips. So reason why it looks like a Jaguar is cause Jaguar is hair part of Ford still. I do miss the Lincoln Car's. I own a Jaguar built Lincoln called a LS.

What gm looks like a Ford 🤔

@@Kinggunna87 they all do just different front clips and rears. Camaro now looks like 2015 Saleen Mustang. After all I do deliver parts to GM that have Ford on some of them. Trucks head lights are same just backwards C. GM also lost 2nd place in trucks best selling. Fusion style was 1st then 2016 GM came out with same designs. Ranger 2012 was 1st then 2016 Colorado. I can go and on. Not the only that sees it. Even GM fan boys sees it.

@@lincolnls0416 12% is nothing…my husband works for Ford and used to work for Mazda as well when Ford owned around 30% of Mazda and the companies were tied . They are no longer tied that way and do not share designs/info anymore.

Nah, it is a really good Canadian car built a few miles away in Oakville, ON. Love my 2011 MKX Ltd Ed. with only 107K Km so likely hanging on to it. Wish the Nautilus had hidden the rear wiper like was done with the Aviator. MKX/Nautilus is perfect size and height for us old goats who need ease of access and space to carry portable electric scooters to get around a bit when not in the vehicle.

@@alengreen589 actually Alan, it is rather a real mix as I believe that the vehicle or parts thereof actually makes 7 trips across the 49th before being completed. No Black Label in Canada though. Only car in that class that is doing this concept is the Genesis. I still wish that the Nautilus has hidden the wiper on the rear. Thought they were going to go PHEV also. Think I will likely just keep the MKX which is a great vehicle.

It doesn't feel like a Ford because it's a Lincoln the high end of Ford ... if it felt like a Ford then you'd be getting screwed. Much like the Maserati is considered the luxury edition of Ferrari both owned by the same company so the same thing applies here. You should check out Lincoln's concept L-100 I guarantee you've never seen a vehicle like that by any manufacturer
