On personal front, the first impressions about the exterior design is that it looks pretty much mix of Jaguar F-Pace and BMW X-5 from the rear and side overhang design respectively.

A really great review. This CX-60 looks like a genuine alternative to the Euros (and should deliver much better reliability and cheaper cost of ownership). Only concern is the feedback of the firm ride. In Aus, this could be a real issue in our roads.

Cars these days are all pretty much very reliable. I mean not like torturing it in extreme condition (e.g. bad driving, poor maintenance) and expecting it to last for decades. Most cars now with good servicing can pretty much last for a very long period without salient problems. Its just like your phone, would you worry about the reliability of phone nowadays anymore? Probably not, its just technology has reached a very advanced level.

Nice review! I never considered Mazda (I'm a Lexus gal), but now, I am. I agree with you as far as the interior details of the one shown in cream vs the black. The cream is top notch in detail! Not thrilled with so many manufacturers putting out black (not fun if you live in a warm/hot climate), and creamy white (would constantly worry about staining) interiors. I know that there are those that prefer a touch screen, however, as someone who is barely 5'4", I appreciate a no touch screen so I don't have to stretch in trying to reach it. Seems the seat adjustment option is off for many people. But as you said, pre-production. I believe I heard a reviewer state that starting price was expected to be around $30k and could be priced upwards of $85-100k (plug-in hybrid with options added). That's HUGE! I'm not paying that much for a Mazda! Not when I can get a fully loaded Lexus RX for less (including rear sunshades, thigh extenders, rear heated/ventilated seats, climate control, etc., reliability and long term ownership). Nonetheless, I'll be checking on March 8th for "official" reveal. Thank you again for your pre-prod. review!

Excellent, detailed review. Love your work. I think this looks great, and I’m a huge Mazda fan - of their cars and design philosophy. Not being an insider or having access to statistics, it seems like a bit of a risk, taking things premium to this level whilst at the same time mostly disregarding the EV wave. -But of course, that comes down to the actual price and the local specs. Talk about giving Australian consumers what they want, I’m still perplexed as to why we won’t be getting the CX-50. There they have the capability to give Australia what it would almost certainly want: a better looking, more premium RAV4 competitor. Maybe they have a handshake with Toyota or something. But, it would be cool. Or maybe they’re just mad? Like, why don’t we get the Turbo Mazda 3? We have the Hyundai Ns, the Cerato GT. You know what I think of when I think ‘premium/BMW competitor’? I think, great design that also puts you back in your seat when you hit the on ramp. The CX-60 looks great - and I’m sure that there’s a lot of us who look at the power to weight ratio of a Sorento and just want more in our lives. I hope it does well for them! I will sit here, still holding out on my tiny thread of hope that the new Mazda 6 will come storming out of nowhere in all of its RWD/AWD glory, low and sleek and station-wagony. Don’t make me pay those Skoda people their goddamn ‘package’ markups and then deal with their servicing!

Yea the supposed 2022 Mazda6 isn’t likely going to be a thing. I like my Mazda3 sedan but for a roomier family car to replace our Camry, the Octavia Limited Ed is a good choice. I like the sedan/liftback option but of course the wagon is there for those who want a SUV alternative. The service packs aren’t the end of the world and the 7 year pack extends the warranty to 7 years so that brings it in line with Kia for best in class.

Great design and leap forward for Mazda, I really like the design. I agree; the rear wiper should have been at the top of the rear window, similar to Lexus. The centre screen isn't touch screen, they moved the screen further back and removed the touch screen functionality. Its simple, if you have that much of money you should go for 7-seat hyundai/kia, similar price better practicality. If you insist on buying Japanese ones, if you love PHEV, no brainer go for Lexus. For normal petrol engine, if you can accept the hideous infotainment on Lexus (even the new one and you can go and test drive), still recommend Lexus because you will appreciate just how much Lexus cars would retain its value in years. In terms of comfort and other aspects, I dont see much of difference thats worth choosing one over another.

@@nephilimdj I dont understand why people still would choose Kluger. I mean it did have a history of good reliability but nowadays, all cars last quite long if you give them good servicing and not driving like a maniac. Kluger is super overpriced, considering its brother, Mitsubishi outlander, apart from its design and interior, a lot of them share similar technology with a slightly better 4wd system and comfort on Mitsubishi. Its just not worth 20k more for a Kluger, just because you are buying a Toyota
@User-cb4jm
2 жыл бұрын
@@johnsteve1352 Just hypothetical - I’m no SUV buyer by any stretch but I’d probably avoid a 7 seater if I could. But yea if priced similarly Lexus being a luxury “brand” with Toyota reliability reputation, resale value would be good. I’d assume the Mazda would offer more equipment for the price to avoid losing sales to the NX directly. I can’t imagine the Mazda and Lexus being at price parity - I feel most people would choose the Lexus then if there isn’t anything else to tempt them. I’d also imagine the Lexus would be quieter and plusher as the Mazdas tend to straddle mainstream and luxury but hasn’t truly gone all th way until now. straddle mainstream and luxury and haven’t gone all the way until now with cars like these. Still worth it to see what extra bits of intangible luxury a Lexus would provide given most people would assume Mazda is aiming to be a slightly nicer Toyota rather than gunning for Lexus directly.
