The legendary Mr. Nuzzo is not wrong - these Nova v2's are a real industry leader. They are slightly heavier than some wings out there, but that comes with increased durability, and the enormous benefit of these new bars (rather than handles). I've been pummelled in head-high, mainland-Mexico surf (too many times) and these wings came out unscathed. The bars provide amazing maneuverability, especially when using gloves/mitts in colder weather. You no longer need to squeeze both hands into one small handle when gybing. There's tons of room on these rigid bars to pass the wing between hands easily, ride one handed, and aggressively adjust the position of the wing with these solid hand holds. They are also a nice small diameter (more so than the Duotone), so forearm pump is minimal. The chopped wingtips keep the wing out of the water, and because they are so swept back, if you do dip a tip, it just bounces right off the water. The 6m has a ridiculous amount of grunt to get going in light wind, yet it still luffs nicely and is easily maneuverable while riding waves. Having this new quiver of Nova V2’s has upped my game significantly. My wife is thrilled.

You make the best reviews. Saying exactly what you think. And it is so easy to see if you are truly stoked about a product.

Just got the 6m version - absolutely love it compared to my 5.2m floppy handle. AVON!

the older nova is heavy as well. My PPC feels like a feather after riding the nova. It definitely contributes to increased fatigue for me.

you should check out the 2022 duo tone unit from what you've said they will be very similar, centre strut on duotone is more curved for arm balance 👍

Nice review! Ordered a 5.0 and 3.5, coming in on monday. Curious how it flies compared to my Duotone Slick….

I thought they ripped off the design of the Slick at first but the Nova rides really different. More balanced and control feel. Nova luffs out much better too. That being said, the Slick is a great all around wing.

How do you like your north novas now after riding them? I'm thinking of picking up at least one at discounted prices since the new 2023 wings are out.

Hi great review! Would you know how the Nova (4.2m, 2022) compares to the first generation Nova (4.2, 2020/21) in terms of *low end grunt*? Is it true that the v2 has more low end?

Loving the reviews Matt. What would your dream set up be for a 6’2” 165lb 25 years surfer if price were no object? I am a mediocre windsurfer looking to build a quiver that doesn’t need upgrading once I start to progress through the wing foiling ranks . Thanks!

Really depends on where you are riding and how much wind, but here goes….. No question Armstrong HS1550v2. Will never have to upgrade or grow out of it. Plenty of foils in the range. Light, strong and best built. Could add a HS1850 front for lighter air and easier for your first sessions. Board, Armstrong FG board is best on the market too. Great shape, construction, pad, feel and ride. Comes off the water easily and lots of control. I would start with a 99L which will feel small first few sessions but will grow into it. Could start a little smaller like the 88L but it will just be harder in the ocean and eventually you will get a smaller board. Probably a prone board like the FG 4’5. Wingy Thingy…. Nova v2 is great. Armstrong A Wing v2 amazing all around. Slingshot slingwing v3 easy. Take your pick and you won’t go wrong.

So the smaller sizes when theres wind no matter should be less tail heavy and the weight will matter even less?
@REALmattnuzzo
2 жыл бұрын
Yes correct. Smaller sizes the weight effects the tail heavy thing since there is more wind holding them up. Lighter breeze is more sensitive to heavier wings. That being said the 6 and 7m Nova are power house beasts to you can ride in really light air. Not the best riding waves but not many big wings are that great for riding waves. Light wind wave riding takes a lot of skill to keep enough wind coming across the wing to keep it luffing. Forward speed and the right angles are key.
