Here's what an early morning work commute on the 2022 Trek FX3 looks like! This is about an 8.5-9 mile commute and this bike handles it VERY well! 🍂 #biking 🚲 Ride Log: / strava
I can't believe I just sat for forty minutes watching someone ride a bike to work! Your commute definitely tested my tolerance for risk, especially on those busy roads; I don't know that I'd have the guts!

You got trek fx3? In thinking of getting the fx3 over marlin 7 for commuting. I like 28x11-46 drivetrain but feel like 40x11-46 drivetrain is more conducive for commuting on road.

I have to agree. Lights on , It´s a life saver. and reduces the risk of others to crash into you.Other than that. just get some lights..

You need lights and a cyclometer in a bad way. Otherwise good commute video. I have a 2011 FX3 I use as my commuter and it has never failed me. I run Continental Tourers, and swapped out the riser for an adjustable an adding BMX bars to sit me upright and provide space for lights and a Cyclometer. I used butterfly bars but I did not like have my hands that far from the brake levers. I also fitted fenders and a bike rear rack. I also added a collapsible basket on the left side. I have ridden my FX3 in multiple MS

I’m on the fence with the FX3. I am wondering how the comfort of this bike is on a 50 mile (paved trail) ride. Any hand pain on long rides with the iso grips? Does the bike have adequate top gearing/speed for long commutes?
@danyulebikes
Жыл бұрын
It's a VERY comfortable bike for me. I've had no problems out of the ISO grips but with that said an average ride for me is around 15-16 miles a day on commute days. I COULD see those grips becoming uncomfortable on a 50 mile ride. Might be worth swapping grips out. I've had no issue out of the gearing. I LOVE the 1x11 for commutes. 15-20mph seems to be just fine. If you want to go faster I could see that being an issue though.

Anything over 20 miles, you should really consider drop bars. They allow for far more hand positions. I don’t think changing the grips will make a difference if your hands are in the same position for 50 miles.

I live in area where bad asphalt is rampant and I also ride on gravel roads. I am thinking of buying a Trek FX3 2022, but due to my needs, change the stock 32mm tires to 42mm or wider if I can. is this possible to do? I am not going to use fenders with this bike. What is the widest tire I can use? Ideally, I wanted to use a 42mm at the back and 45mm in front. Thank you

hi I enjoyed watching your ride. I'm considering a FX3. too bad you didn't say what gears were riding in during the ride. wondering? if fx2 or FX3. FX 2 has wider gear range. fx 3 only 1 front wheel chain pull. was wondering on. your thoughts between Gear ranges? fx2/fx3. what average speed on fx 3 ? comfort??
@user-xv7eb5ct9f
4 ай бұрын
I got fx2 and you can really go fast on it downhill, and good gearing for uphill, although I'm thinking of swapping rear casette for an 11-42 . You just miss out on the simplicity of 1x.
@danyulebikes

I had the FX2 before the 3. I LOVED the simplicity of the 1x. I think I probably did lose just a touch of top end speed but it was entirely worth the sacrifice for me.

This video was fun. I ended up order an FX3 in XXL cause I'm a giant. I have an ebike with 2.5k km on it, but I find I'm using the electric motor less and less and without using the pedal assist it's a 70lb bike so really not fun. Hoping this was a good choice as my first acoustic bike!

I no longer have the bike :( I'm sorry. I did not have a kick stand nor did I have any racks at the time. I actually used the entire setup stock but swapped the tires with some Gatorskins. Additionally, all my "packing" was done using a water proof backpack.
