Thanks! I'm pretty easy to please paint job wise and usually I dont really notice the color of a nI'llke after a short while. This one still gets a "damn..." when I walk into the garage. The Top Fuel really is a great bike and I have no regrets

I saw in another video you had a fezzari. That bike is on my short list. Did you end up getting rid of it? The Orbea Occam lt and he top fuel have been bikes I have been looking at closely as well.

I still have the Delano! If I could only have one of the bikes that I own or have had, the Delano would be the one since I travel to other places to ride. The Top Fuel ,as I have mine set up, is better on my local trails which are very much xc in nature. I have taken the Top Fuel to Bentonville and have ridden just about everything there that I've ridden the Delano on and aside from taking really chunky stuff at speed, it was fine. I would like to put a burlier fork on the TF and take it back and see. I find the Step Cast 34 to be quite flexy with me being about 210 geared up. To be fair, that fork isn't ment for charging Rick gardens either

@@oklahotb3217 that is actually a really helpful perspective. I live in Joplin MO so Bentonville is really close by. Yeah this is going to be my one MTB so it’s going to need to do everything pretty well. That being said I am probably more of a XC type rider. I like pedaling a bike fast going up hill and on straight rolling terrain. I am not really mr downhill, bike park guy. At least not yet lol. Yeah it would be a interesting test to see how the tf felt with a little more capable fork.

@@micahmiller4 I find the TF to be fantastic on the rolling stuff. I've only ridden mine so I don't know how it behaves with a different suspension set up but I have the three position fox dps and the tune on it is fantastic. The trail setting is on the firm side so it feels really efficient yet still eats up all the little roots and rocks that are typical to my trails. The open setting feels really plush. There is a marked difference between open and trail. I leave it in trail until I know I'm going to be riding decently chunky down hill kinda stuff then I'll open it up. I have a 3 position fox on my Delano and the difference between open and trail isnt nearly as noticable. I really like that the "down country" segment has come into being. It really is the sweet spot for those of us in the middle part of the US who want something more than an xc bike but trail bikes are now just too much bike for.

Yep I live in Florida and was about to pull the trigger on the Delano and then I’ve thrown my leg over a top fuel and man does it feel great. I’m only going to have one mountain bike and I wondered if I should go with the Delano or the top fuel. I’m about 25o lbs And still pedal pretty well for 57 year old guy. I ride the burliest things in Florida but would still like to pedal well. Either bike would be a great choice but any insights would be appreciated

What are you currently riding now and which Top Fuel and Delano model were you looking at? One of the big differences geo wise between the two is the Stack Height. The Delano is 628mm and the TF is 605 for the size large and both have a 480 reach. The TF is going is going to put you in a more aggressive body posture than the Delano. If you like a more upright riding position, that is something to keep in mind. Personal preference comes into play there. I built mine up from a frame which comes with the stem and spacers. I used all the spacers it came with under the stem and if I could do it again, I'd get more spacers and bring the bars up higher as I prefer a higher stack personally. If I were to make the TF my one and only bike, I would go with a 130mm Pike or Fox 36. At 250lbs, you would benefit with bigger stanchions. I know I do at 200-210.

Thanks! I've had more rides since I filmed this video. It really is perfect here. I've ridden quite a few bikes in the past two years and this one is the best daily driver. I usually ride hardtails because I like trail feedback. This suspension in trail mode gives me that feedback but takes off the harsh edge when in the saddle. It also opens up nicely on the small drops and larger roots and the rocks we typically find here on our trails.

@@oklahotb3217 That's good to know. I am riding a Marin San Quentin 3 right now and I've been thinking about a full squish. I just got back on a MTB last year after a 21 year hiatus. My last bike was a 1996 specialized ground control (it's amazing how the bikes have changed), and my 48 year old body doesn't handle the speeds I want to ride on a hardtail lol. Thanks for the reviews, videos, and descriptions of our local trails. It has motivated me to get back at it.

I wonder why there is not a color choice to pick. I want to build one but I hate the only 2 colors Trek has on those frames. Trek has a terrible color combination. I am considering getting the Ibis Ripley frame instead which is solid deep blue color looks more appealing in general. Nice video!

@@josephawatson It's not much like Crispins. Orange and Blue trail are nice peddly trails. Yellow trail is the hardest of the trails out there. It's worth a visit
