This would of been 8 alarms in New York City. They might be very advanced in Japan but their fire fighting leaves a lot to be desired. I guess eventually it will burn it's self out.

Wth...Why does it take so long for the firefighters to respond? If this is in Japan, it is the 3rd video I've watched where a fire has ripped through a building due to slow response. All 3 vids are in urban areas and should have resources there pretty quickly. Are fire stations spread out too far? Then it took them a while to get water on the fire.🔥🔥🔥
Probably got a dozen trucks and crews....and I only see two attack lines. MAYBE there may be a few in the rear....If this is all the attack that is going to be made, why send so many units?
Questions: Where are the police for traffic control/ Where are the truck companies to set up in front of the building and use ladder pipes to extinguish the fire and protect exposures?

Japan is shocking me. Pumper pulling up within the collapse zone? No Aerial device? Very disappointed in Japan. Lets keep the traffic flowing.

I’m no expert on structural firefighting tactics, but it seems to me that an American-style pumper with a deck gun could have knocked down the majority of the fire within a couple of minutes. Even a Japanese pumper could be equipped with a deck gun and deliver about 500 gpm for an initial knockdown or exposure protection. I wonder if any effort was made after the video ended to cover exposures B and D.

The road in this video is one of the wide in Japan. However, many Japanese houses are built close to very narrow roads. Large fire engines, such as those equipped with deck guns in the US, cannot penetrate most Japanese residential areas. Therefore, the basic tactic for fighting fires in Japan is to use a number of small pump trucks and water from hydrants. In Japan, large fire engine with deck guns are only equiped at fire stations in factory areas or near airports.

4minutes (‼️) to get water on the hose is extremely bad performance from a professional point of view... some of the firefighters just running helpless back and forth.. unbelievable 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Its true that the frontal attack on the fire was poorly executed, even by Japanese standards. However there is most likely additional units in the rear/side that we don't see from one camera angle. For those saying "a few American ladder trucks would work better", that may be true. However they don't fit on most roads. That's a main street that happens to be multiple lanes wide. Most are 1 lane each way & not even close to the American standard of 10-12ft wide either. Don't even think about side streets. "Why don't the police block traffic?" Quite simply, its not to inconvenience those drivers & bus routes. Japanese go out of their way not to create additional hardships for others, as its part of their culture. Additionally, the PD aren't always that big & have sufficient personal available to assist the FD. Videos like this are great training tools and nice reminders to us Americans that we should never take our paid & volunteer FD services for granted!

Size of vehicles is not that a big problem. European firetrucks are on average smaller then American ones, but store as much equipment (they are usually taller and much more tightly packed). Also western European firefighters are way more efficient than these morons, and in many cases than even their American colleagues. It is possible to fight fires with compact firetrucks, but you need skills and equipment. Yes, no giant American style tower/ladder trucks, but where are your f*cking aerials? Let them be a dedicated ones (two man crew, no pump, minimum tools, foldable platform), these would definitely fit even on Japanese streets, but there is none, lots of tiny engines and no aerial. Also it seems, that only crews of two engines are actually fighting the fire, with only two hoses. And of course, no deck guns, no portable monitors, nothing like that. In fact, I haven't seen any video where Japanese firefighters performed well. I have seen lots of moronic American firefighters in action, as well as some good ones, lots of videos where European (Dutch, British, German, even Russian) firefighters were performing excellently, with some rare mishaps. But Japanese were all awful. Maybe you are right and its culture, they don't want to disturb other people, even when lives and great material damage are at stakes, also it may be influence of Confucian culture that discourages improvisation, taking responsibility and making decisions in critical moments, I don't know. But I'm sure that people have certainly died because of this shit.

After watching many videos of structural fire scenes, I can say that Japan's firefighters are the worst firefighters there are on planet earth. It makes no sense to see them operate. They have no intervention strategies.

No traffic management during the video, at the very least park appliances across the road, not safe for the crews or general public, was even people on bikes riding through the some. Imagine if that front wall had a partial collapse, lots of little fire trucks there, hope they got a ladder platform in.

Get a platform in!!!! By the time that arrives if these clowns are anything to go by they would only have a parking lot instead of a building. This was simply a disgrace that it took 3min 45 secs to get water on after arrival, an arrival that took five minute from the start of the video not the time of call. These guys have a shit, shower and shampoo before they even bother to mount their appliances. I have seen some good, some bad, some awful and some brilliant firefighting around the world but these guys have to be the worst by far despite having an embarrassment of modern equipment. Absolutely shameful.

Firefighting in Japan is not necessarily a matter of a fast first attack because of the high density of buildings and wooden structures. In addition, Japanese firefighters tend to focus on preventing the spread of fire in general structure fires.

@@user-ni6su3ie6v Why did it take almost 4 minutes to get one jet to work???? Is that normal too?? It took 5 mins from the start of the video to arrive not from the time of call.
