This one's a bit rough 'n' ready as I didn't plan anything shot-wise as I normally would.
I was accompanied today by my two closest mates. Stan, the older chap, needs no introduction since he's appeared on this channel many times before. The other gent is my good friend Mark. He comes attached with his four-legged staffy friend Wesley. I don't know much about dogs, but he appears to be a 13 year old puppy!
It was a lot to ask of Stan. He was a few days short of his 99th birthday here. But he gamely came along, AND made it all the way to Sharkham Point and back - although he freely admitted he was knackered afterwards. But then, so was I - but don't tell him!
Sharkham point is somewhat overshadowed by its larger brother Berry Head, the next headland along, visible in the take-off shots. But it's just as (if not more) interesting with its multiple contour heights, its proliferation of bushes, hedges, and wildlife, and its multiple paths for walkers. It was a gorgeously hot day, and visibility was pretty good - with just a little haze restricting the distance, and barely a cloud to be seen in the sky.
The small beach between the two headlands is called St Marys beach, which makes the small bay (no surprise) St Marys Bay.
The Caravan site is the South Bay site of the John Fowler Holidays company. They have several sites in Devon and Cornwall. If they're all as welcoming as this one is, you can't go wrong booking a stay with them.
Special thanks also go to Mandy, the lovely lady from John Fowler Holiday Park, for making a fuss of Stan while we were there. She's not in the video, today. But she went way beyond the call of duty, and presented him with a lovely birthday cake she made for him. She's an absolute diamond! Thanks Mandy.
