Schnellecke Logistics Company of Woodstock was named the winner of the Alabama Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities Large Business Employer of the Year Award during a statewide awards ceremony at the Alabama Department of Archives and History on October 13, 2023.
Dennis Horton, Director of Personnel for Alabama, said he was humbled by the honor.
Schnellecke was nominated by Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services Business Relations Consultant Bobbie Stephenson who said the company makes employees with disabilities feel valued and supported throughout the workday.
Horton said he greatly appreciates their partnership and is grateful to have a chance to provide opportunities for valued employees.
“If you’re passionate about it, you can make a workplace accessible,” he said. “It’s just finding the opportunity and putting the management team in place that understands that.”
ADRS Commissioner Jane Elizabeth Burdeshaw said this is just another example of how businesses can be positively impacted when people with disabilities are offered a chance to prove themselves.
“Today, it’s more important than ever to bring attention to the advantages of hiring individuals with different abilities,” she said. “At ADRS, we see Alabamians every day who, with support and the right accommodations, are helping businesses all over the state fill needed vacancies with their talents, abilities, and pure enthusiasm for their jobs.”
