Thanks for the video. Some really great information.

My experience was very similar to yours. I had to be very flexible in my color choices. It took me a whole month of bartering with 6-7 dealerships near me in SoCal to get msrp on a limited awd. My tip is to just wait for dealerships to get more inventory and for the car to start piling up in dealer lots like the ioniq 5 is now. The 6 just released so we’re still in the initial rush.

Yeah truthfully I don't know if I would do it again, I love the car but it shouldn't be that hard to give people money 😂

You can get the 7500 tax credit through the lease loophole. Just buy it out early. With all the added up fees(as long as they don’t sneak something extra in) you’ll save around 6k. Oh you mentioned it later in your video. Nevermind

FWIW this is my experience: I ordered a Plug-in tucson from a few dealers in January, the dealers said it would take 8 months~ and it ended up arriving in 3ish months. It seemed like a large shipment arrived in my area at the time and my spec was matched up. offered at msrp

Sounds like you got pretty lucky. There are people who placed "orders" and waited months just to find out that the dealership was not going to get an allocation for the spec they wanted. It is much better to find the car/spec you want and buy it from the dealer that is actually going to get it IMHO. Essentially that's what I did, had I not I would still be waiting for sure.

The buying process in Australia is even worse. You have to buy on an on line release and fight for a car. The factory did a great job of sending the car straight away. That’s where service started to go south. Delivery promises have come and gone. I’m wondering what they are doing with it. I’ve started to get flashbacks of Ferris Beuler’s day out. We do get the European spec cars with everything on them. They are not sold at all through dealers. I have to travel to my state capital to pick it up. I might be able to pick it up next week, but then?

That sounds rough, does the AU not have a dealer network at all? Or are there factory owned showrooms where you pickup the car?

@@blackwatermotorwerks We have plenty of dealers. We have one in my city who is qualified to service the Ioniq 6 . They sell electric Konas and the original Ioniqs, but are not allowed to sell the Ioniq 5 or 6. The car appears to be a world beater, but I can’t even get a photo of it sent to me by the hand over dealer, 82 miles away. It’s a different experience from the US one, but certainly no better. This is the first Hyundai I’ve bought and probably the last. I think I’ll just keep a hold of my supercharged Jag for the moment until I see how things turn out.

@@bentaxelrod ouch it's even worse if it's a world wide issue.
