That is best looking san quentin frame in my opinion. I Like those colors and they match nicely with tires. I would never guess that is L size I thought it was S. Geometry has changed a lot from 2022 model. Weight is not as bad as it might sound considering those tires are over 2 lbs each.

Dude, I'm 6'2" and ride an XL easy. Tonnes of room. Got the SQ3 frame. Built it up with 150 dropper. 160mm fork. Stable AF. Takes everything we have here in the Top of the South Island , NZ.

Good video! I disagree with you about the seat post being too short. As per Marin’s size chart you are specked for a XL frame 5’11” to 6’2”. I just switched to a SQ3 size large from a Rocky Mountain Growler size large and couldn’t be happier. The Growler felt like a barge compared to the SQ3. I’m 5’10” tall with 33” inseam for some perspective. Thanks for your video and that SQ1 looks like a great deal on a killer bike 🤙

Agreed, if I could manage a 500mm reach, but I can't. My reach sweet spot for hardtails is more in the 475 to 480mm range, so a Large with a 40 to 50mm stem would be my go-to but would mean I'm riding a large. With excessively long reach and very slack head angle I find the bike hard to "play" on and too likely for losing the front end in corners.

I have a 2021 San Quentin 3, love the bike but when I saw they now changed the geo and I saw the numbers I am bummed, the geo was fine on the earlier frame, now I really hope my frame does not crack cause I DO NOT want this new SQ frame as a replacement, I would have to look another route.

hey, i get your pain , but I'm in the opposite situation.I have a 2023 San Quentin 2, M size, I'm 5'7" (1.70cm) and ~31" / 80cm inseam, short legs, longer torso, my height = my wingspan. Marin chart sais S until 5'4"....Well guess what? 1st impression when I sat on it from the box was wth?! seemed tooooo long .......i brought my old 26" wheel mtb to compare it and I was suprised that the reach was kinda the same (old mtb has a looong stem though and very short handlebar), frame on the SQ was smaller and a bit longer, the big difference beeing the longer wheelbase of the SQ2.....after some thoughts and well, asking myself if I shouldn't have gone for the S one and reading on the internet how many find 450mm reach large and some 5'7" are good with even longer reach, I said fk it....put the saddle forward, slammed the handlebar lower (no spacer between the stem and headset for a period) and I realised I may adjust to the longer reach. Try and play with the stem, saddle, handlebar, if that doesn't fix it, well ,it just wasn't meant to be. :(

If you had the chance, they'd be worth test-riding. They're pretty similar in spite of having pretty different marketing buzz. I suspect from a ride that you'd find something about one of the two would feel a bit more natural to you.

I have a Rocky Mountain Growler (almost the same frame as the soul). I’m 5’10” and got a large frame as suggested by Rocky Mountain, and it’s way too big for me. So if you go with the Rocky Mountain size down. Also if I could do it again I would have gotten the San Quentin as I like more of a playful bike fyi 🤙

When you say that you cannot get it to fit you, do you mean you would need a dropper much longer than the typical 150-175mm dropper? Do you need something crazy long to fit a regular six foot human?
@BikeBrosBikeShop
Жыл бұрын
That is pretty much it: with the stock 40cm rigid post I'd have to ride it above the max height to get proper pedalling seat height. So for me I'd have to probably get close to maxing out a 210 dropper: it may work but it looks silly in my opinion. I have long enough legs that my bikes are usually cause for some pretty good jokes around the shop. For a non-freaky proportioned 6' tall person I suspect you'll just get the stock seatpost to work for you and likely be able to run a 175mm to 200mm drop.

@@BikeBrosBikeShop I am 184 cm in hight, should i go with size XL or L ?
@BikeBrosBikeShop
Жыл бұрын
@@norbertgudek6274 I'd say you need to test ride each size. You're on the cusp where you could go either way - go Large to get a more nimble/playful bike, go XL for a longer, more stable bike. Not knowing your body proportions or usage, I'd probably lean towards the Large but you may have factors between your proportions or usage that would make sense of XL.

Heard from other customers, "looks like a BMX and love the fade paint scheme - love this thing". Looks are Subjective ;). Just like I couldn't stand the looks of an XL with what looked like a yard of dropper post sticking out while others are perfectly happy with the function and appearance of this bike in an XL.
