The 2023 Division 3 MHSAA Football Final featured two programs looking for their first championship in school history. The Mason Bulldogs were making their first ever appearance at Ford Field, and Forest Hills Central Rangers were looking for redemption from their 2022 finals loss.
Led by a defense that allowed just 9.0 points per game this season, Forest Hills Central delivered on the defense again, holding the Mason offense to just 10 points. The exclamation point of their effort came on senior linebacker Drew Fortino’s fourth quarter pick-six, returning the interception 25 yards for a touchdown to seal the win, 27-10.
The game was broadcast on Bally Sports Detroit, called by Johnny Kane (play-by-play), former Grand Valley State National Champion and current Detroit Catholic Central head coach Justin Cessante (analyst), and Lexi Ayala (reporter).
