I had both purchased at the same time. 3 month difference with Bmw being the first i got. Now 2 years and half after and 23,000 km on the bmw and 19,000 on the Honda this is what i have to say. both are the best in the market for adventure bikes. If you want a fun super bike that is 100% reliable, does both road and semi off-road and full off-road the Honda wins in all aspects. The BMW is a great bike in terms of technology and confort. The rest goes to the Honda that is equally advanced in technology but the simplicity of the made in Japan makes it so that the driver and the bike meet on a wild adventure. With the Honda, it really is like riding a horse… a mustang at 180 km an hour. It will never break. It is Honda. Just like Toyota Landcruiser, they are made to start and go even when you take out the engine and store it away 100 km away from the car/bike, it will still start 😂 and go ahead. That is how reliable they are. The BMW is german excellence at its best. If you want a space ship of an adventure bike… go for that one. Much more confortabile for 8-9 hours road than the Honda. The technology it has like the breaking assistance where the suspension keeps the bike straight up while you break and so on makes the ride a wonder. I personally enjoy the Honda because it kept the real motorbike experience that the same Africa twin gave in the 80’s. Man on a bike on a road. No extra help. Pure skills!

I have owned both these bikes and am right now riding a 2022 BMW 1250GSA , i can tell you right now , there is naff all difference that is worth talking about in acceleration, the only time you will notice a difference is when fully loaded and with a pillion , even then the AT has plenty of grunt , I remember pulling away with my wife on the back on the back wheel , without even trying , it just happened, thats quick enough for anybody. Customer service definitely seems better at BMW chester than it was at Blackpool Honda as i had problems with two of the salesmen there but there is now Honda chester 😊 Of the two , i would say the AT shades it if looking to buy ?? But i would advise to buy the BMW 1250GSA because if you by the Africa Twin you will always be wondering should i have bought the 1250GSA, which is what i did . Honda that seat is diabolical and simply not suitable for an adventure bike , 1hr in that seat and you need to stop , i can ride all day on the 1250GSA!

Hey Dan. Awesome! 1k miles is a good distance. I bet that was a real treat to test the Beemer. Which AT is that? I test rode the 2019 and found the 2021 with a slightly bigger engine funner to ride. Im sure the beemer would hunt them both down.

The CRF 1100 definitely has more bang, than 1000. CRF 1100 DCT in sport level 3, and I'd be very surprised the Beemer would catch him before 100 mph. I have a Z06 and Boss, and still amazed at how fast while smooth this bike shifts on acceleration. It always feels in control, but feels linear in acceleration. What I'd think an electric bike may feel.

@@billmcmeekin7909 This was a spontaneous thing we did as we where in the middle of nowhere. Neither of us had time to optimize our bikes. I was in users mode sport 3 power 3. At the flag I hit full throttle and kept it there until he passed me. The DCT definitely has the advantage off the line but can not hold off the 1250 boxer. Maybe in just a hole shot scenario the DCT would be hard to beat!
