You might want to look at the Model Y owners manual since you can direct the climate control vents to either point up, towards the windshield, straight, towards the driver/passenger, or down towards your feet. You can do this by touching the icons with an arrow pointing up in front of the seated person, straight at the seated person or down. Also you can touch the screen where it shows the air flowing from the vent to further direct the air to blow up, down or straight or split the air flow. ALso have you tried the voice commands which you can use to contrl the wipers lights AC and lot of other things.

A neat trick I discovered is that if you use 2 fingers and "unpinch" it will split the vent airstream to go past you on either side. Pinch to return it to a single stream.

Hi Casey! Thank you so much for your suggestion! I did read part of the owner's manual about the climate control vents and know about the 3 vent options - upward near the windshield, straight at the driver/passenger, and down at the feet. However, I haven't been able to finish reading and test all of the features. LOL I tested your suggestion of using the touch screen today where the it shows the air flow and it worked as you said. I was able to adjust the direction of the air flow a bit more granular. The voice command worked for the re-circulation as well. 🙏 It was actually my first time using voice command on the Tesla. 😂 The only thing is I still swipe the climate control up to confirm if it actually took the command correctly - maybe I'm just paranoid. Thanks! This was a nice, straightforward description of the basics. I bought my first Tesla (Y Long Range--I've had it 2 weeks). I got brave and tried the AutoPilot/AutoSteer yesterday. I was very nervous at first, but I liked it. It seems the default is to follow 2 car lengths behind the car in front (too close!) I couldn't figure out how to change the default--there was no menu option. Finally I found it in the manual--you push the right scroll wheel left/right to adjust the follow distance. (The up/down of that scroll wheel adjusts your speed.)

Thank you for sharing! Great job on solving the car distance problem!!👍 Kind of embarrassing to say, but I haven't dived much into the car besides the basics of driving it to and from work. hahaha 😆 I'm definitely excited to test out other features but at the same time it feels a bit overwhelming, if that makes sense. As for autopilot, I'm very scared of the thought of the car driving on its own. You're so much braver than me since you've tried Autopilot and Autosteer within 2 weeks of having the car!

It's always great so see reviews of "normal" people instead of electric car nerds. And the Tesla centers should really stop expecting all their new customers are electric car professors, some people don't have that time in their life to watch so much in internet about how a Tesla works etc. Concerning the adjustable lift opening hight of the rear trunk, this is standard in most cars with electric operating trunk lids. Many people don't know, that if you choose internal airflow that the aircon switches on then for safety reason, because with internal airflow the air moisture stays inside the car and at cooler days (or night) it quickly leeds to misted up windows but aircon dries the air so that the view through the windows stays clear. But also at my combustion car it annoys me that when turning off the internal air flow that the aircon then doesn't switch off automatically if it was so before. But if I would have a Tesla, I simply would use the voice command function and say: "Tesla, turn off the AC." Don't bother so much with the screen, insanely many functions work perfectly by voice commands.

FYI, you don't necessarily need to wait for your electric bill to come in to know how much it's cost to charge the vehicle. There's an option on the display to see the kwh charged at home and kwh charged at supercharging stations. Just multiply your home kwh by your electric rate.

You only have to put your home electric rates into the app once, and then it automatically breaks down the costs, plus savings over gas. I have a day/night rate, and it auto tracks and totals charging and costs for each timeframe. If you want to compare, here in NY, NYSEG charges me 7.5 cents/kWh night, 11.8 cents/kWh day. But then is delivery of the electricity (a total separate fee) that I had to break that out and prorate add to the rates, so it ends up home charging costs me 14.3 cents/kWh at night and 18.5.cents/kWh day. The superchargers near me are 35-45 cents/kWh.

It depends what you're comparing the Model Y to and what your ride is like. It's not as smooth as a BMW 5 series but enough if you're on a non-bumpy road. Our Tesla doesn't ride smooth on speed bumps. I've spilled water twice going into my parents' apartment while going over speed bumps, and my cup each time was only 1/2 full. Now, I just hold my cups when I have to go into that complex, or make sure my water bottle has complete seal. Tesla's suspensions could be improved, at least for the Model Y long range - can't say much about other Tesla Models.

To be honest, I don't normally use it. I find that it's too sensitive and have the Park Assist Chime disabled. The times that I did use it, I still got out of my car to make everything is ok to decide if I was good or needed to adjust, so I wouldn't really say that I used it. I definitely don't rely on it... On the Tesla's 2023.6 update release notes, it lists a number of scenarios where Park Assist can fail on you.
