If Jomez is dead set on having the live scoring, at least show scores through the current hole next to it. Please. I feel like I’m missing so much of the story just because people are done with rounds as the lead card is teeing off. The position numbers are totally meaningless now!

how does that even make sense? the way they're showing it is exactly as the players see it while they're playing. Kinda adds the flavor to the decision making the players are going through.
@benjoselyn4268

Absolutely. We are getting information on people who finished the second day 8 under and we aren't getting information on chase card. We are supposed to do all the math and derive meaning a mix of highlighted and greyed out names scroll by all on different parts of the course. In live coverage things move slow and you have time to do all the comparative math to try to figure out how players are doing relative to one another. As this list scrolls by it is frantic and hard to get meaning from.
@kazzaaz
Жыл бұрын
@@brandonkeen6115 That’s great to be aware of, I guess, but consider a situation similar to this tournament where the back 9 is much easier than the front 9. I would much rather know who is doing well through those first few holes and how it compares to the lead card vs. knowing what score everyone is trying to get to. Information is lost here, and trying to figure out the loooong scoreboard when everyone is at a different hole just makes it so I pretty much don’t pay attention at all until the very end. Disappointing. I feel like for the situations where those score conscious decisions come into play (and these are rare, usually last round only) that’s why we have the great Jomez commentators to bring us up to speed.

I'm from Canada, and my game is always good in the spring because I've been grinding all winter. It's so hard to play on slippery tee pads and when the circle is a sheet of ice and you have to basically "curl" your disc towards the basket. Or you have to tape streamers on your discs so you don't lose them in the snow. It's also hard to play while wearing multiple layers of clothing...everything is difficult. When you finally get to play in light clothes and on grass, it feels like you have been set free. The game just feels so much easier and consequently you play well. Not to mention how much farther everything flies in the warm air. I assume this is true for some Finns also.

If done perfectly, it could work better, but still wouldn’t be quite as good as the old. Especially the use of animations is simply badly done in places. For example, when the *second* person putts, you get the flashy animation of ‘PAR’ or ‘BIRDIE’, with the name of the *first* person as title, so you think it’s the first person who just finished the hole. If you only looked at the scores it would work, but the viewer is normally looking at the action, and the animations only momentarily draw attention, so the viewer really only sees that short moment and is confused. The graphic designer is doing his work thinking that the viewer is looking at his graphics the whole time. TV is a different beast, you need to lead the viewers’ attention with cues, which is not done correctly here - the root cause of many of the issues.

It does take a little more brainwork to calibrate how well they are performing in the moment, but it is by far a better representation of the player’s mindset as they are playing the tournament.
