Don't think it isn't unwanted. Toyota just wanted to get something out to get EV fanboys to shut up and they saved money by splitting costs. This is just a temporary model for them while they wait until their solid state batteries are developed. Think this was a very smart business decision.. every single EV will all be very worthless once battery tech improves...can't say the same for ICE vehicles in the last 50 years..

I'd guess the wheel problem is quite serious in that it cannot be fixed by dealers. It is not loose bolts but something more fundamental that loosens fully tightened bolts. I'm wondering if it isn't some sort of resonance problem that arises in challenging circumstances and puts way more stress on the vehicle frame attachments than you'd expect. If it is a physical resonance problem the only fix may be some unwelcome dimensional changes. How many bits already built and paid for will they have to throw away? How long to test a possible fix? How long to get new bits? Toyota figured that next year would be the biggest year of production with only half that production the following year. Given the rapid evolution of the technology is it practical to plan a major delay in production or is it better to shoot for a significant all round update? Remains to be seen. This review seems like some kind of blind unreality.

When was this filmed? This car has been under recall since late June and there's no fix for it yet. In fact, Toyota has offered to buy back some of them. The review seems spot on. Not Toyota's best effort but a practical EV. Seems like the RAV4 of EVs IMO. I think the Lexus version will have better performance. However, when will it come out? Also, the charging is slow. I do agree that it's too overpriced, and that it needs to charge way faster than it does. But honestly, I think the power, at least with the all-wheel drive model, is really sufficient. 0 to 60 and 6.5 seconds is not slow, and not everything has to hit 60 mph in under 5 Seconds for it to be usable. This is not a sports car; it's a basic straightforward crossover. I've heard a lot of people complain about it not having enough power, but looking at that time, it sounds like it does.

Sorry, but aside from wheels falling off and the recalls making the car a complete failure, it has inferior performance, handling, storage, tech or charging speed on road trips compared to a tesla model 3. Plus the fact that as a sedan, the model 3 has more room and storage for the same price. All for around the same price or for a little more, you get a much better value for dollar with the tesla. They did not bother to mention that here about dc charging speed. The bz4x has an abysmal 50kw charging rate as I understand, which is the same speed teslas have when you are done your session and are about to leave with 90 percent charge. No mention about any phone app features if it even has them, capabilities and the lack of drivers assistance features or the camera capabilities for security and dashcam capabilities in the event of an accident. I don't you should really say that Toyota came out swinging when their ceo and press has been dismissing the interest and advent of evs in the future and has been one of the biggest lobbyists against evs with big oil to push back emissions standards in the usa. Plus they have been educating their own youth in japan falsely that hybrids are better for the environment than evs.

Motor weeks claim about using subarus all wheel drive tech is nonsense. This proves they do not really understand how things work and are just parroting the nonsense that toyota and subaru spewed to give the awd system some supposed credibility. Subaru's tech, experience and knowledge is for a one engine ice system with differentials and that control used. When you have 2 independent electric motors it is something completely different. You can also use the motors to more effectively read wheel slip rather than poor performing abs sensors like ice cars (if toyota, subaru and others are even doing that; but tesla does) In other words Subaru like every other ice company only has used abs sensors in the past without an electric motor being present. So nothing subaru has to offer or has experience with in ice awd has anything to do with the electric awd capabilities since evs are new to subaru as well. From what we have seen so far, the only one with true awd electric drivetrain knowledge is Tesla because of the performance they have shown after years of making evs.
