Neither am I, but this model surprised me and made me reconsider my stance on the Prius. Kuddos to Toyota for turning a car that was not appealing into something quite interesting!

I've not been a fan either, but I just bought an AWD XLE Prius a week ago and have fallen in love with it -- it hardly compares with the older versions. It's faster than the Honda Sport I traded in for it and drives just as sporty +++ all the modern bells and whistles.

Thanks for your review. The Prius has gotten much easier on the eye! Having owned a 2012 Prius, I was hoping that you would also do a road test. Mine had a lot of road noise and rattles. Hopefully, Toyota has resolved those issues.

The “b” button engages the engine as a break, with fuel cut. It’s similar to downshifting in a manual. But as far as my knowledge of the previous Prius, this does not increase the regenerative component of the breaking system and contribute to recapturing energy, rather it helps slow you down.

My issue is the wheels. I live in a climate that gets ice and snow. Tires are a no go. The 2 inch lowered roof is just crazy. And the speedo location is dumb. It was fine where it was. And the no spare is dumb. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing car. It's improved and all around better and safer. But for the negatives, which I've never had in a prius. It's enough to make me cancel my order. I customized and ordered and bought my 22 midnight edition sight unseen and it's great.

Most new cars no longer have spares , and all you have to do is put some snow tires on it and get the AWD version for even more traction.

it's as good as it gets for a hatchback. Hatchback vehicles have a smaller rear view glass by design, but its enough to see cars behind you in traffic.

cause we don't want to be conned into electric only by the gov who wants everyone dependent on what they control more of, which is electricity, and which is rising in price much faster than gas and is already now arguably more expensive than petroleum, and for people who want to be able to travel more than 200 miles when it gets even a little bit chilly out without having to wait an hour for a charge

I had a highlander hybrid.. the extra complexity of the drivetrain is bot worth the extra money they charge you.. there was an article showing the Tesla Model 3 is cheaper to own than a corolla. If you calculate the average of all Tesla models, it costs on average $615 to charge per year. Comparable gas-powered cars cost an average of $1,850.42 to fuel per year. So, Teslas cost approximately $1,235 less to drive each year than gas vehicles. Plus- who likes oil changes?! And Tesla warrantees their cars longer- 4 years/50k compared to most 3/36k miles!
@bt-xv1fy
Жыл бұрын
@@jpmackin The problem with tesla is they are in the top 5 for unreliable cars. The corolla is in the top 5 for reliable cars, the prius has more cars hitting 300+k miles making it number 1. There is no comparison here any toyota will out last a tesla hands down. It will easily take 2 or 3 tesla's to last as long as a 1 toyota especially the Prius or corolla at 1/2 the price its a no brainer.
@abcde4677

At this price, wait time, and markup, I'd rather get a tesla. Nicer car arguably and running cost is lower than Prius. Much faster, too. Tesla is pretty reliable as well.
