100% agree. It's only related by name and only the fanboys will defend the latest Tundra and Tacoma. It's completely unacceptable that even 2024 models have engine faillures. So much for "bad batches" of bearings . So much of 0.005% failure rate. The guys that buy that live in clown world. I have been saying since it came out that the new bed is a JOKE. The trim fitment sucks. The interior plastic bits suck. Pretty terrible oversights by Mike Sweers considering he's the head of truck development and came from a plastics background. If the fitment and quality of the plastics are this bad, it was a conscious decision that was overseen by Mike.

I went to a local Toyota dealership on a Sunday and parked my 2013 SR5 next to a 2023 Limited and a 2023 SR5; the difference in build quality was glaringly apparent. The redesigned 2022 & 2023 Tundra has a cheapness that is just hard to accept, especially at the prices being asked. I presently own two Toyotas and was considering purchasing a new Tundra; however, the quality of the new Tundra models isn't up to the standard I expect from Toyota.

I call bullshit). No lunar rock grey for 23, why? really hard to get a color other than black for the interior trim....Toyota's website sucks- options there one day gone the next, then back again then gone, no 2023 info available for the TRD Pro....9 month wait for a TRD Pro, Capstone, 1794. Dealer price gouging due to scarcity ( TRD Pro $95k, Capstone $116K, plain SR5's $65k)...my question is, did toyota get blackmailed into killing this thing to pave the way for ev's? why not just stop production? Who ever was in charge of this should have been fired....and that should go al the way to toyota japan.....I wanted to like this so bad. I'll stay with my 2010 Sr5 for another generation ..ugghh!!!

I don't think Sweers had nearly as much control as he would like. Toyota forced this truck through and slacked on supplier quality checks. I would never expected this many problems from so many areas from Toyota.

What we are seeing here with the 23 tundra is that the quality is going from worse to horrendous. That being said the TRD Pro was great initially but after about 4-5 months of ownership some little things really started to bug me. 1) mine developed wind noise from the moonroof and driver side window, 2) cheap plastic interior had already started to crack (driver seat side), 3) squeaky center console (DIY'd that), 4) rear window weather stripping would not align properly, 4) very poor turning radius, 5) high pitched humming noise coming from the hybrid regenerative braking system that toyota claimed was normal (this drove me nuts)...to mention a few. The one that really took the cake was the noise from the braking system. It truly made the driving experience unenjoyable for me. Still was a good truck but for $70K i expected better. Solid points. Toyotas QRD philosophy is basically nonexistent on the Tundra. There are a lot of KZitemrs that reiterate what you’re saying. Many of them had bought the new redesigned Tundra and experienced what you’re saying. This truck took so long to develop and this is the best Toyota can do? IMO Mike Sweers the head of design and development needs to go. He’s out of touch with the consumer and failed. I was looking for a new Tundra back in 18 I was looking at replacing my 07 I emailed Toyota asking about the redesign? Emailed me back saying it’s coming soon and even asked what would I like on the new Tundra. I had like many high hopes but got tired of waiting. Bought a new 2020. Glad I did.

Gotta say, I almost 100% disagree with everything said in this video. I truly hate pickup trucks but my wife's tundra has been one of the nicest ive driven and definitely been happy to own it so far. Handles extremely well for a truck, mileage is decent for what it is (averaging about 18.5 city and highway mixed). 4H and 4L work fine. it hauls what we need it to just fine, and the fit and finish we felt are really nice (good quality leather, no rattles or misaligned body panels). Again I am not a truck guy but im happy with our Tundra. Most of the complaints made in this video I do believe are either overstated or just flat out wrong.

I have tried to like the new tundra. I rented a 2wd sst and drove it for a week. It felt like an overgrown Tacoma to me. I like the Tacoma and I like the tundra more since I got to spend time with it but I don't think it compares to the old model. The cabin is smaller and fuel economy was only 2mpg better than the old tundra 4x4 5.7. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will make a midlife change to address the issues. Until that happens I will keep driving the old tundra.
