drove to nags head outer banks area with my wife for a week & brought a couple boards with that have never been in salt water. while these werent huge waves or anything, i found there were more similarities to surfing the great lakes than there were differences. biggest thing i noticed was i had more time to paddle out & never really struggled to get out ever so i had a lot more energy. lakes waves white wash seems to be more dense as well - could just be in my head. i didnt really notice much of the salt water buoyancy difference. could just be im used to a lot of float with my boards as is. i could understand the difference being more noticeable on performance or lower volume boards.
i forgot to take off the cold water wax from the 8'0 migration loon board and realized the wax was what was killing my skin/areas hah. took about 2-3 sessions to figure it out but made a huge diff after.
didnt record every session but still got tons of footage - soloshot tracked pretty good but messed up on some. threw a bunch of rides from each session and tried to mix it up a bit, so many to choose from. weather was excellent with no rain the whole time we were there.
80-95°F air temp & 72-78°F water temp (roughly)
