The 1250 GS a is a monster at sustained high speeds. I did 125 mph for almost an hour straight through the Mohave Desert in 95F heat and the bike was just loving it. Highest I ever got it to was 134 downhill, that’s fully loaded with all my gear and aluminum panniers and top case.

I'll speak in KM/h like most of the world. 1250GS can definitely go over 215 and not even downhill - although yeah the side panniers MIGHT work against that. 1250GS is supposed to go at around 220 (219 maybe) on GPS - maybe about 225 on the clocks. First gen 1200GS is supposed to go around 210 (209). A tuned 1200GS (like mine) can go 220 on GPS, 1250 definitely more than that and 1300GS can really go faster than 230 with enough space as 6th is also longer (you can see it has about 1000 RPM more to red). A (non agressively) tuned 1300GS can probably scare some supposedly "stronger" bikes, as its torque numbers are out of this world. But this is a story for next year. Or until M1300GS comes out...

Thanks for sharing and braving the wet to test the top end. Probably should have waited for a nice day. I believe my R1250RS can do about the same. I saw the channel “MotoTop” get the 1250 up to 234km/h (146mph) on the Autobahn. So performance wise this new engine doesn’t seem all that more powerful than the 1250. However, I want that Active Cruise on my RS. That’s a game changer for those highway rides.

Nice that you can go 230 kmh, but realistically, even on the German autobahn, the opportunity rarely presents itself. It’s the potential and not the reality that attracts us. Still own a 2018 R1200GS which is configured equal as a R1250GS. Display Connectivity, CruiseControl, ABS Pro, QS+ and even if it has only 125HP and 125NM it‘s great to ride on longer trips. Actually I really also now see no need to upgrade. And as a side effect of the current pricing & market situation it really keeps it‘s value quite well. The newer GS sure has some benefits and development is always going on, but for the majority of riders a 1200LC or 1250 will also be a good convenient choice when it comes to travelling. Just my two cents. PS: For the really max. road-fun nearby I own a lightweight KTM next too my GS. 😎
