I'm in no affiliation whatsoever to Mazda and Chery and my comment is neither in support nor undermining of any cars or company mentioned. You are slightly pushing the boundaries with this, Mazda cars are touted to be top notch when it comes to car handling capabilities among the Japanese cars, it literally is their company motto "JINBA-ITTAI" where a driver should feel connected to his/her car, man and machine. So of course they would remove any unnecessary features and keep it minimalistic for the driver to enjoy the car. I can't say much for comfort cause Mazdas aren't well known for being the most comfortable car for passengers. Reliability ah, japanese car wor, wanna challenge China car meh (and if you join CX30 group, you'd know that CKD built Mazda cars are just rubbish for what you pay, noisy interior and unfixable). Maintenance cost is the drawback, instead of selling to you OEM products and making it a "boleh pakai" car, they maintain utmost quality by ensuring all parts are original and made to their specs so there is no compromise in quality. Chery on the other hand has a notorious history in Malaysia, subpar cars with shitty after sales and I speak of this from experience. I still have my reservations for the company and their cars but since they're willing to offer 8-10 years of warranty for their cars, either they're very confident in their engineering and marketing, or they don't expect people within this category to keep their cars longer than that.

Mazda seems now not much better than Chery nowadays. Mazda CKD or CBU specs from Bermaz have given lousy specs these days but sells expensive. Now rivals are coming while some already here, the questions is that can mazda still fight other brands when competitors are now ahead as mazda. Even Bermaz Auto have made their wrong decision and wrong timing to sell CX5 facelift in 2024, which is already too late, as by right should sell one year after debut.

Great Scott! That price to performance ratio (based on paper)! Truly an interesting time to get such a car with all the bells and whistles, thanks to the host for his coherent speech in delivering the information, definitely refreshing to hear someone speaking so eloquently without having to mumble or pause in between words. Negative rant below, I swear with every new Chinese car launch, my dissatisfaction with Proton increases. The only times they ever made great choices were joining Mitsubishi, obtaining Lotus, and cooperation with Geely. Now no Mitsubishi, no Lotus and Geely is basically dumping their 3cyl leftovers from China to us then claiming it saves fuel with lighter weight and less maintenance. Even with the tax difference, Proton is charging us almost 130k for their top spec X70 C-segment SUV but with subpar gearbox quality during 1st batch and subpar interior quality upon subsequent batches, padahal Tiggo 7 with full tax implementation is priced the same but so far the only complaint is from a competitor who was trying to sabotage the company and the occasional lemon unit, imagine that!

Proton with their tax advantage (meaning not having to pay additional taxes compared to foreign car brands) shows that Proton have been overcharging the rakyat if their cars are around the same price as a taxed car, see X70 top spec vs this Tiggo 7 Pro. Proton's 1.8L has less power than this 1.6L, but having to pay less roadtax, meaning more bang for less buck.

@@lhctrekker one thing for sure, in order to "preserve" the car value, its new model needs to be stretch as long as possible, like Japanese on 5+2 yrs. But Hyundai has shorten the life cycle to 3+2, and from the way chinese cars are, likely to be 3+2 too, and with host of other chinese competitors in the market, even 3+2 will not be good enough. therefore subsale value will be greatly affected. I'm not trying to look down on you cause I'm also in the same situation. But If you are asking that question, either your pocket not deep enough or you are not the target. This is not an insult, just another consumer who is also interested in this Chery car. On paper everything damn good, but should I pull the trigger is the big question. So far I see Chery owners, their problems are only very rare because those are lemon units, all cars confirm have problem but it is how Chery handles it that got me interested. So far most of them are Omoda 5, and they seem to drive relatively well and are also quite reliable. Of course we have to wait long term for the real problems to show up. Recall that when the latest Nissan Almera was launched, they promoted that their engine cutout is using diamond cut technology like in their Nissan GTR, 3 cylinder with proper balancer shaft, fuel economy and power from CVT bla bla bla. And now on the road, about 80% of the Almera I see have their rear LED burned or rosak one side, while the rest kena overtake by Myvi (4at gearbox) and Honda City (also CVT). Memang tak boleh pakai punya marketing hype. On another scenario, Honda now alot steering rack issue within their lineups, while Proton's X70 top spec also around Rm130k but only 5 year warranty. If you bring in these 3 equations (after sales service, spare parts availability and also the cars reliability) for a C-segment SUV, most people will just say get a Toyota Corolla Cross.

We should be thankful for Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 owners for buying these cars, this shows that Malaysians are very interested in Chery cars and are willing to pay at least 100k for them, else why bother bringing in new toys like Tiggo 7 for people like you and me to be excited about?

@@andrarichie no offense meant or taken, cause if I was an owner of O5, I'd be upset too haha, a sly move by Chery I guess but business is business.
