Phil was on a role here, spent 10 minutes rambling on about mythical foreign franchise leagues taking all the county players from the English summer, to immediately back tracking when it was pointed out these leagues don’t exist, and almost certainly won’t exist

Root certainly shouldn’t expect a heroes welcome at Yorkshire, when he has shown he literally couldn’t care less. Why is this even in dispute?

Ben Bloom says in 5 or so years time some of the smaller counties will be borderline Minor Counties. I would say many are like that now, very rarely look like getting into Div 1, rarely produce an England player and mainly make T20 format cricket the priority. Only really Surrey at the moment are a financial success story. Think many clubs want private investment because they are in a financial mess. I really don't like the 100 and T20 Formats but accept they have they place and bring the money in but really fearful in they will swamp Red Ball cricket, perhaps its inevitable. Seen in Football that its has sold its soul to money and sadly Cricket is next.

Durham CEO is frustrated that about 10,000 county members have too much power. But he wants nearly all the power to rest in the hands of a few TV execs and money men who I suspect have a financial interest in Franchise Cricket rather than the long term health of the game. Would love to ask Tim Bostock if he stands to make any money off the changes in cricket he wants to happen.

Bear in mind in football the fans want to go from private investment to fan ownership. It works well in the bundesliga

Seems to me that every county - in order to survive - has to have a team representing them in the 100.

well i love test cricket and hate the 100 and not keen on t20. but we need some reality here, there are two many games playing at absurd times of the year, so I'd rather see 8 games - 3 in may, 4 in June, 1 in august at the start and then a play off between the top 2 teams for the championship at start of September, you still have 3-4 weeks there for the 100. its pointless just playing 4 day cricket in middle of spring when there's to many weather related issues that can affect results, just to say you playing it so maybe you can have to divisions of 9 teams, 2 up 2 down., if the members are really bothered that their team will always be a minor county as long as they can go and support them, the danger of this is some of the bottom clubs in Div 2 will start to struggle and may go under, but this would happen whatever system you put in place. To say county cricket has always been in financial trouble for 60 years and has survived, really you are not looking at the new money for 100 and franchice tornaments all over the world, and the way the sports landscape is changing very fast. there's no perfect solution here but to put your head in the sand, and say nothings wrong is only gona end in tears.

@@TheSTEPHENMC5 Just look at IPL. It's every match value contain more than EPL (per match). Don't be emotional. This kind of league already died and ODI's as well. Test criket is in great danger as well. You only have 3 teams for test. AUS, INDIA and England. People have jobs. They can only spend 3-4 hours max in the evening time.

@@asaduzzaman-i1p dude you are literally on a page previewing the UK county championship calling it a 5th class irrelevant comp. So if you are not being emotional you are definitely try to troll, so don’t get upset if you receive a rebuke. I find the IPL meaningless and boring, but that’s only one league there are plenty like the Canadian T20 league the ILT20 etc which are played in from of one man and their dog, which nobody gives a shit about (including the players).

@@TheSTEPHENMC5 Yeah! That part I agree. Those are classless t20 leagues. Without IPL I can't give a shit to those leagues. However, I told you the truth and didn't tried to troll the country league. Onetime the country league was a great thing to watch. However nowadays people don't have the time to watch 4 day games. In England people might have the time or passion. In the subcontinent it's already died. Only India vs aus, ashes and India England gives me the vibe of real test cricket. Other countries are useless. Also, those series in India are useless (in the context of bad pitches) those are lotteries. I love test cricket however the game is dying slowly.
