Not this season and my poor fruit and vegetables have struggled to cope with the weather.

We went away for a week and have come back to a jungle at the allotment 🙈 - tricky to get motivated to clear it up when I know so many of our veg have been decimated by slugs. We don’t have a single pepper that hasn’t rotted off due to our slimy invaders 😢 on the up side, tomatoes are doing well 😊

@@OtterwoodCottage oh no... that's tough alright...😬 I actually had not experienced this level of attack by slugs to the peppers, as I'm finding more and more individual peppers they have nibbled, rather than sticking to the same one😩 Glad the toms are putting on a better growth 🥰 Keep the faith and stay strong! Its a slug eat plants world out there😂💚🌿

Hi Maiju, nice harvests especially the size of the turnip. It's always good to keep accessing what you are eating and growing I keep finding that it's ever changing for us, with different recipes.

Thank you, Ady 😊 I was delighted with the turnip, even though it was wayyyy too large, but it was solid in the middle and very tasty still. Even the hubby approved 😀💚🌿

A timely video to give the nepeta a haircut. Your love of nepeta is catching. I planted one small plant after you talking about it in a previous video which is huge now and the bees and I just love it. Your hedge is magnificent so I think I will be planting more. Lavender I find a bit hit and miss here in west of Scotland. Doesn’t always come through the winter that well for me. So nepeta may be the way to go. Your garden is just beautiful and giving me plenty of inspiration.

Wow! That garlic harvest was super impressive Maiju! I was only telling Kerry this morning that I think I need to grow elephant garlic for next year. Your potato harvest was so pleasing and the greenhouse is looking amazing. Love the Nepeta hedge. You’ve given me an idea. That could look nice as a walkway border hedge between my greenhouses and the main garden. I love it! Thanks for a lovely video ❤

Thank you, Clare 🤗💚 You can also try Lavender hedge if you would need it to be more compact, or to use a smaller variety 😊 But Nepetas are awesome! 🥰💚🌿

Lovely music in the beginning. The weather has been quite mixed as you say, but it has been (mostly) warm at least. I am in the same boat about getting other jobs done in the summer. I guess August and September might be for painting. I built a strawberry raised bed & (finally) planted the country garden area over the last week! I have experienced a lot of slugs lately too. They are so annoying. All the best. 😊

The weather has been 100% better than last year 😂when it rained the whole month of July, at least we do get breaks in between 😅, but it has been really cool... which has suited some crops for sure 😊 You have been busy and got a lot done 😀 I wanted to get all of the interior decorating stuff done before the schools are back as August can get busy with other pre-autumn prep jobs 😊 Happy gardening and thanks a million for your continued support 🥰💚🌿

Thank you, Eilish 😊💚🌿There has been plenty of slugs for the hens 🤭 and they've broken into the kitchen garden so many times, scratching around and creating havoc, that I've started contemplating on chicken soup from time to time 🤭🤭

Thank you, Terry 🥰 and also thank you for your honest comment on this 💚 I'm finding the forward planning takes a hit when other things in life takes over from gardening, but getting outside to potter and at least observe has helped. I hope Mrs. K is doing better❤️ and all the good wishes for you, too 🥰

Lovely harvests! I need to do a planning overhaul for next year too, realising that I am growing things that are not being eaten. My plan for growing lots of mint, to dry for tea, went by the wayside and I've ended up with no salad, although I have just pricked out some seedlings, best laid plans! It's been a challenge for sure this year, but also an opportunity to reflect on how I'm growing and what I'm growing. Thanks for the update, have a good week. 😊

Thank you so much😊💚🌿 so right to observe, I had the same issue last year with salad, where I didn't have enough and this year there was plenty, but we were not going outside to pick it often enough. So in a way it is also to start creating habits of this type of growing - little and often, rather than larger buckets full of vegetables, which I have been more used to lately. We keep learning and adjusting, right? 🥰💚

😂 haircut time for all the flowers. Spring cleaning in July it’s essential because it can really get overwhelming if we don’t keep at it. But having said that life gets in the way sometimes. You have done a fab job as always Maiju and it’s looking beautiful. Excellent harvests I may just try elephant garlic 🧄 next year as I had such poor success with the regular garlic. Happy growing, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Thank you, Ali 🤗 Do try elephant garlic, I'm sure you'll love it! I have also found the first year they might not grow very large, but keep the best and biggest cloves for the following year and the plants reward with stronger growth...and then just keep up with holding back the biggest for the following year again😊 Happy gardening and have a great week! 😊💚🌿

Isn't nepeta the best?! I keep telling anyone starting a garden to get them as they just give so much for so long. Things starting to grow here just a bit now, so late in the season, but better than never. We would have a great strawberry harvest (year 3) if we could get to them before the mice (despite my best efforts to build protection around them), otherwise it's been very very slow. Always love visiting your garden on here though! :)

Thank you so much for your kind comment and support 🥰💚🌿 Nepetas are the best, indeed 😍 the rain, wind, and cool temperatures have not been bothering them any bit. Bees and butterflies love them 💚 Fot the strawberry 🍓 thieves you'll probably need a cat, barn owl, or a kestrel 😂 Here, the biggest damage had been done by wine weevils, slugs, and blackbirds 🫣 I'd need a full collection of plants to start over, and I adore strawberries 🍓 😍 😋 Let's hope there's enough of heat around now to get some corn and pumpkins 🤞😊
