The icon of the dancers of the Mother of God, the Holy One, was brought down to the monastery of Jethismaniyah
On Sunday morning, April 25, 2024 (12 April according to the Eastern calendar), a procession of descending the icon of the dancers of the Virgin Mary to the Gethsemane Monastery, where her holy tomb was held.
This tradition takes place every year in accordance with the ritual of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, where the vigil prayer service presided over by Saint Archmandrite Filuminus was held in the Church of the Corpus Christi, located in front of the Church of the Holy Resurrection, where the icon is preserved throughout the year. After the divine mass, the procession began at dawn.
His Eminence Metropolitan of Ellenopolis Kyrius Yoachim, the spiritual president of the Incarnation, carried the icon with dignity, surrounded by the fathers of the Fraternity of the Holy Sepulchre of bishops and priests, and the monks and nuns held candles and lined up to the right and walked the icon with all reverence for the glory of her Most Holy.
The march from the Path of Pain passed the Monastery of Saint Alexandros Nafsky, the Monastery of St. Kharalambus, the House of the State, the monastery of St. Hanna, the Monestry of St. Estefanus to the Church of the Rokad Our Lady in the Monastery of Gethsemane, where her holy tomb is, and there the icon of the Holy Body was placed with dignity in its place behind the Tomb of the Holy Virgin and in front of the Icon of the "Most Welcome" From the heavens of Jerusalem, a service and divine liturgy was held in the presence of large crowds of worshippers from the country and abroad.
The holy icon will remain in the Corpus Christi Monastery on the day of the feast of the virgin (14th of April).

Patriarchate of Jerusalem celebrated Feast of Dormition of the Theotokos in Gethsemane. On this feast, the Church reminds the faithful of our faith that the Theotokos conceived from the Holy Spirit and bore in the flesh our Lord Jesus Christ, she died and was buried in Gethsemane, but was translated by the hands of her Son in the heavens and her immaculate body was preserved.
She stands on His right side, interceding unceasingly for the life and salvation of those who genuinely revere her as the Mother of God.
The Dormition of the Mother of God is a Great Feast of the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic Churches (except the East Syriac churches). It celebrates the "falling asleep" (death) of Mary the Theotokos ("Mother of God", literally translated as God-bearer), and her being taken up into heaven. The Feast of the Dormition is observed on August 15, which for the churches using the Julian calendar corresponds to August 28 on the Gregorian calendar. The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Dormition not on a fixed date, but on the Sunday nearest 15 August. In Western Churches the corresponding feast is known as the Assumption of Mary, with the exception of the Scottish Episcopal Church, which has traditionally celebrated the Falling Asleep of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15.
Christian canonical scriptures do not record the death or Dormition of Mary. Hippolytus of Thebes, a 7th- or 8th-century author, writes in his partially preserved chronology of the New Testament that Mary lived for 11 years after the death of Jesus, dying in AD 41.
