My guess is music rights. Rights holders will let you do some things in live broadcasts that they’ll demand large royalties for if you publish it, and sometimes it’s a lot more than your whole project is worth, because they know you have no leverage other than to take out the music. NBC probably figured it was still worth it to use this track for the broadcast (it’s a perfect track). Btw this is also why they didn’t upload the Olympic breaking/breakdancing. That music wasn’t cleared worldwide for publishing by the Olympic committee.

I always look forward to this every Olympics! About two or three days before the end, I start to get teary-eyed thinking of the montage to come. (That sounds a little ridiculous as I type it, but it's true.) I just wish they still began it with footage of the host country set to Dragonheart...
@coreyromberg

@@itsladycharlotte I actually saw that one and I found it rather weak, mainly due to the horrible music selection choice. This one uses Titan Spirit which makes it sound way more epic. Don't get me wrong BBC edited it just as good as NBC's, I liked how it was capped off with Keely Hodgkinson, but the music choice killed it for me.

I got the absolute chills when he said who's the greatest athlete you've ever seen and he says Simone Biles. That's something when you rewatch this 20-40 years down the line, it's going to mean a bit more to you than it does now, or even after she passes assuming you outlive her. LOL!

NBC's montage doesn't stand up to ABC's Ode To Joy closing montages back in the 80s. Plus, NBC needs to play this at the end of the Closing Ceremonies and stop burying this in late night or at the end of ancillary programming.
