I hear it’s been so hot that the Harris Ranch cattle are producing evaporated milk. Now, that’s hot!

@@MarkClayMcGowan I’m stealing that one from you. Yes, it’s hot. 4014 is in Roseville, it took 90 minutes in line to see it, in 90°. I saw a heatwave, and I waved back.

Thanks Mark for your trip review, I like hearing about your experiences and places to eat and sleep. After meeting up with you in Tehachapi in mid May we headed west towards Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Pulling our trailer I thought the road I-40 turned to crap as soon as we crossed the Arizona state line and did not seem to improve until we were close to Williams. I assume they maintain them better close to tourist destinations so the don't upset the visitors. Looking forward to another trip down your way in the fall to visit the CA Train Museum and WP museum in Portola and then to LA via Tehachapi of course. Thanks again, Russ

Yeah, we went to Az. last spring. We took 66 from Topock to just past Seligman where it joins 40 again, and 40 was a disaster to Williams, as you said. I felt bad for the trucks that had to stay in the slow lane! If you get this way again, let me know. We'll hang out again!

Interesting about Black Bear Diner, Wife and I had never ate at one until we were in Boise Idaho and it was very good and the portions were large for the price, only other one we have visited was in El Cajon, CA (the only one in San Diego County) and it was also good with big portions. I have been told by other people that the "experience" varies widely with the location. Train mountain is on our "bucket list", Want to take our Great-grandchildren from Logan UT to visit. I agree with UT having the worst road signs. Will have to talk to you sometime about gasoline and their additives since I worked in the industry for 30+ years. (Costco is as good as Chevron) Sorry but ARCO puts only the minimum required by law and is on par with the "No Name" stations. Any "Branded" station that advertises "Top Tier" is best bet. Tip on using Radar Gun, point click button and read speed, repeat as needed. (Do not need to hold button down)

You still have nothing on Arizona! I never felt endangered in Oregon, but feared for my life and my truck in Az!
