I love how you're continuing to take ownership of your life! As I'd heard from someone else recently, don't let your short term problem become your long term solution. And you're doing a great job of doing just that!

During the third part I noticed the central theme of being able to roll with the punches in a lot of things in your life. It’s a super important skill that not many people learn. I grew up inspired by Bruce Lee saying “become like water,” I feel he was speaking in more ways than one there. You have amazing strength (physically and mentally/spiritually) and it’s inspiring to see that!

I can always use a bit of motivation to get started with something, many of your points just hit spot on! (not getting three runs a week for isntance) And thank you for your honest update of your personal life. You are right when you said that it sometimes gets overlooked on these videochannels because it is so personal, so I think you are extremely brave for opening up to us about it. Good luck on this new step (being a homeowner/businesswoman/athlete/sportcoach/...) in your life and just one more thing left for me to do: giving lots of hugs! You got this!

Coach, this might be one of your best. I always thought I was running wrong; putting the problems and stresses of a federal job on my plate as I ran, but thats why I found myself sleeping the best those nights. Not because of physical fatigue but because of mental and emotional clarity. Also, you are so right. There is no reason to run to the point of being whooped each time. Sometimes I'll run and barely even break a sweat, but I still went and did it. Phenomenal stuff!

As I watch this and watch the news I want to remind all us runners and walkers to PLEASE be careful and mindful of your surroundings. It's not that we need to run scared, but we do need to be aware and safety is PARAMOUNT!
@thomasorchard

Yup. I recommend no headphones, or only 1 headphone in to be aware. Also carry a "wireless hole puncher" in a Fannie pak or belly ban. Always be ready.

@starsharp3500 The kind of hole puncher that I'm talking about isn't a common office accessory... It's a hole puncher that can be used for self defense.

Thank you for this, I’m currently in week 3 of getting back to training, and this is always one of the hardest weeks for me (weeks 3 through 8 are rough). I just keep telling myself to set goals I can actually accomplish and adjust if I can’t hit the plan, which is different than I’ve done in the past when this has defeated me, and I was in a very all or nothing mindset. It’s so helpful to see a trainer I respect saying just that and affirming that this is the way to go.

Also, thanks for the update, I just found you recently and you’ve been truly the best in terms of giving tips that I can actually use at the stage I’m at, and I had worried when I found your YT channel a couple weeks ago about whether you’d be posting regularly. You’re clearly very good at what you do, and you’ve made me feel like running, long a personal goal but I was always told it was not doable for me, is actually achievable.

I really enjoyed this video, you alwakys give sound advice and tips on the various aspects of running and training. Seems like a fine idea to take a break from racing, you deserve it! Do you like to hike? I love hiking. I live in CO so there's no shortage of trails here LOL. Relationships ending always challenging and a unique experience. It's like we have to experience the grief, move through it and learn things. I've certainly had my share of those types of endings in my life. You seem to be on a great path, you go girl!

This video is a great reminder for me to be mindful and be in the moment and enjoy life. We get so caught up in our thoughts about the past and future we don't really enjoy the moment. It's important to plan and prepare but not at the expense of the enjoyment of life. Life always has twists and turns. We can miss the enjoyment of the journey or life lessons that help us evolve. Thanks for the vid!
