I totally agree in the amazing value this ski puts out. I have the 2023 version and at this price point you can't find many, if any skis with titanal and other high tec built in. As a small 5'6", 141LB ski instructor and having spent 3-days a week for 3 months on this ski, it is super easy and stable for any terrain. Intermediates to high advance will enjoy this ski all day long and never feel tired. As an agressive skier myself, I've yet to find its limits and if you are looking for a super fun and responsive ski that is easy on the wallet, this is it.

Hey ! Your video was lovely ! :) I’m 190cm and 83kg, beginner + level, I’m not okay with carving right now… always on parallel turns, next tep is carving, but not right now haha ! Do you think those skis would be okay for my skills ? Which size ? :) (I also looked on the K2 mindbender 85, bit it seems like i’m too heavy for them ?) Oh and happy new year ! ;)

Hi! Thank you for your great reviews! I'm 190 cm, 84 kg, intermediate skier and looking to buy the Stance 84. Would you recommend the 177 or 185 size. I'm used to skiing with 177 (head kore x 80) and am a bit hesitant to go for a longer ski.

If skiers are hesitant, that generally means they should stick with the shorter size. I'd go 177 and have fun!

Absolutely agree with Bobs review. For the record, I am not a Salomon employee. But, I am a huge fan of their products. As a 45 year shop employee, I have tested a huge number of skis. The Stance 84 is an amazing ski! How Salomon can build this ski for $499.99 is beyond me. Huge performance envelope. This ski can make a variety of turn shapes, is stable at speed (I’m 5’11”, 178lbs) and light weight. The Stance 84 will embarrass many skis that are twice the price.

I spend most of my time on groomers cruising, but love to go off into open glades, off small jumps/bumps, and off-piste at resorts. I previously had Nordica Navigator 85s that felt too heavy and groomer focused. Would you suggest these or the Atomic Maverick 86c for my next ski? Or is it a coin-flip? (these are both on sale near me.)
@SkiEssentials

The Stance is a more comprehensive and versatile ski. The Maverick is great, but is happier in shorter and tighter turns as it's so agile and relatively stiff. The Stance is very natural and innate.

Hi guys. Thanks for your reviews ! How does this ski compare with the Declivity 82ti ? Plus the tail rocker seems quite big for a ski in this program. Does one need to upsize because of that in order to compensate the lack of stability going straitght ? Thanks !
@SkiEssentials
8 ай бұрын
The 82 Ti is quite a bit snappier with more camber underfoot and a full sheet of metal. The Stance is very well-rounded and extremely simple to ski at a variety of levels and applications. Declivity is more specific to a skilled skier who is looking for a narrower all-mountain skier. If you're caught in the middle of Stance sizing, it's okay to go up.

Thanks for the review. As an instructor in the east at 6-2 200, ski it in 184? Do you think it will be underwhelming? I had taught on xdr80 ti in that length.
@SkiEssentials

I would say this ski is overwhelming if you're not expecting a lot, and underwhelming if you're expecting the world. It doesn't have the same build as the 90, 96, or 102 in the Stance world, so there's a bit of a dropoff in construction perspective. As long as you are aware that you're getting more of a teaching ski than a personal high-performance ski, you'll be more than happy!

These are two fantastic skis in this range. The Steadfast is the better carver while the Stance is more versatile. That's about as quick and easy as the differences get. Similarities, they both make varied turn shapes and styles and are quick from edge to edge. Both punch WAY above their weight when it comes to the performance to price ratio--fantastic value here in both skis.

Hi there! thanks a lot for the very insightful review! I am an high advanced to expert skier that likes to take it chill but also like to go fast from time to time. I like to stay mostly on groomers but like to go offpiste sometimes too. I feel this would be a good choice for me, coming from a demanding ski, (Salomon X-Wing Tornado Ti), and want something easier to ski in. I am between the men's 169cm and the women's 175cm. I am a man, 5'9 and 73kg. Which one would you go with? will the 169 loose too much stability? or would the 175 be too difficult to turn fast?

Im torn between this and the Dynastar M-Pro 85. I'm an intermediate skiing mostly groomers but also occasionally next to the piste. Where do the two differ?
@SkiEssentials
5 ай бұрын
We go back and forth on these two skis a whole lot. The Dynastar has a stiffer tail that delivers a bunch of pop and energy. The Stance is smoother overall and more consistent from tip to tail. I think most skiers will appreciate the consistency of the Stance, especially progressing intermediates who are looking for a bit of adventure. The M-Pro 85 fits the bill for those that like excellent rebound on a groomer.

I currently have the 2018 Salomon XDR 84 ti's and love them. They now need replacing. Do the Stance 84's ski similar to the XDR's such that they would be a good replacement?
@SkiEssentials
6 ай бұрын
The XDR is a bit more carving oriented than the Stance, which has a bit more smoothness from tip to tail in an off- trail situation. You won't get the same pop out of the turn, but overall it's certainly occupying the same space in the lineup.

I really need to test that ski again. After 4 days of skiing a Hero Elite MT last year, I switched to the stance 84 because of snowfalls. It felt instantly great in powder. Very easy to ski and pivot. But back to carving I think i didn't take enough time to make it work, because i didn't feel confortable holding the edge and varying the shape of turns (like I manage to do with the old QST 92). It didn't feel poppy or fun either. Maybe an unprepared ski or a need to adapt my technique, or a ski that needs a lot of physical input and speed ? I don't know.
@SkiEssentials
6 ай бұрын
Compared to the MT, you're not getting the same carving power for sure. It's totally possible that the tune was off--that can certainly happen. You should also take a look at stance 90, as it adds more metal to the mix and more confidence in a carved turn.

I've had some very positive experiences on the Stance 84. From an all-mountain perspective, it's a very effective and energetic ski. The Ranger is fine, and there's good camber here for pop and snap. Add in a bit of a twin tip and the playfulness of the Ranger is pretty impressive. I still think there's more all-mountain upside to the Stance, I'd lean that route if you're unsure.

How does the 84 compare to the 80? I'm torn between them, I would mostly be doing short turns and trying to get better at carving. As well as hitting some ungroomed terrain once in a while.

They do have the same build, so it's really all about the width and ease of use. Overall, the 84 is more versatile, so if adventure and soft snow is near the top of your list of priorities, I do think the 84 has more to offer.

How would this ski compare to the Nordica steadfast 85? Looking to add either a stance 84 or steadfast 85 to compliment my Enforcer 83. Looking for an approachable carving ski with light swing weight and isn't too demanding, I already have the Enforcers for that!

The Steadfast 85 is considerably better for carving on groomers--it's one of the most satisfying front side skis I've been on in quite some time. The Stance is great, but fills a different role, and that crosses into Enforcer land when it comes to all-mountain versatility. I'd get the Steadfast in the 168 or 174 depending on how you feel about length.

I'm continually impressed with the Declivity 88C. For a carbon-powered ski, it's got some serious stiffness and performance to it. The Stance is smoother and easier to ski overall, but it doesn't quite feel as substantial or grippy as the Armada.

If the shorter turns and moguls are a focus for you, then yes, I'd go 161. you will lose a bit of stability at speed, but we've learned that generally, if a skier is leaning to the shorter length for any reason, then that's the way to go.

If you're looking for a longer effective edge and a more planted feel, definitely go with the Fischer, but for more all-mountain versatility, the Stance is a great ski at an awesome value.
