I got the 2023 version at 188, which for a taller and heavier skier (6'5'') like me is nice and stiff and inspires confidence at speed. I'm learning how to carve on them for the first time. Just love these. What ski would you recommend next as a pure carving ski when I progress to advanced skills as a taller heavier skier? I have 106 all mountain skis for trees and powder days. So these would be for firm snow on piste charging. Thanks!

I'd check out the Rossignol Forza 70 in the 181, the Nordica Spitfire 74 DC in the 180, or the Blizzard Thunderbird R15 in the 182. These skis are all in the mid to upper 70's for waist width and are fantastic carvers.

I really liked the older version of the skis. Demanding, but very stable and really smooth, long turns. Unfortunately, it got damaged. Which other skis will be better replacement for the older version of Stance 90?

We have a 188 left if you're interested! www.skiessentials.com/products/2023-salomon-stance-90-skis?ski%2520size=188 Other than that, if you're looking for a similar ski, I'd take a look at the Black Crows Orb and the Dynastar M-Pro 90.

Progressing intermediate rounding out 3rd winter skiing. Starting to feel more comfortable on blacks (monarch mountain) even when it hasn’t snowed in a while. 6ft, 175lbs, living in CO. Would you recommend the 176 or 182cms? I just moved on from the atomic maverick 88 in 184 because it was just too long in the tight spaces for me

I enjoyed the mavericks apart from that but I do think I was probably holding myself back from the tighter/shorter turns

I'd go 176 based on your stats and application. I bet the 182 would provide similar vibes to the 184 Maverick.

What would you say are the biggest standout contrasts between this Stance 90 vs. Maverick 88 Ti?
@SkiEssentials
7 ай бұрын
The Stance feels more consistent from tip to tail. I like the Stance's willingness to take input at the start of the turn and carry it through the carve. The Maverick has awesome power, but the shovel isn't as engaging. I'd rather ski the Stance pretty much any time, but that's more of a testament to the Stance's awesomeness more than any maverick weaknesses.

I am an intermediate skier. Mostly ski on blue runs and 80% on-piste. I am 183cm and 120kg. What size and ski do you recommend(Stance 84 and Stance 90)
@SkiEssentials
11 ай бұрын
I'd go Stance 84 in the 177. The Stance 90 has two sheets of metal and is kind of demanding. The 84 still has a high ceiling but the power band of the ski is a lot more accessible at more moderate speeds. Have fun!

@skiessentials Hi, looking for a ski alternative to Mantra M5, which is good but tiring. Will ski 70% groomers and 30% off piste and was thinking of utilizing for ski touring as well. I am an advanced intermediate/good skier, 176cm-77kg not terribly aggressive. Would this suit me or better go with the Stance 84? What size would you suggest? Any other ski suggestion (M-Cross 88?) Many thanks
@SkiEssentials

I think the 90 makes more sense than the 84, since you're going "down" a build from the 90 to the 84, and the build of the 90 is a step below the Mantra anyway, so you don't want to drop too far off. I also like the Dynastar M-Pro 90 to compare to Stance--slightly straighter shape and a floatier nose but with a very responsive tail.

I am 165cm tall and wanting to pick this up but the 168 size is stopping me. Alternative is to pick up the head kore 93 at 162. I am advanced skier based in Australia so ski Perisher normally What do you recommend? Go with the 168 in stance or pick the kore at 162?

I'd take the 162 Kore. I think the 168 in the Stance 90 is a bit difficult.

In reality, the 90 does make a bit more sense than the 98, not just from a shape perspective but also construction. There's a lot of power and stability in the Stance with the dual-metal laminate, it sounds like you may be leaning towards that one.

How much closer are these to the 84 this year? Are the 90’s still significantly more demanding?
@SkiEssentials
5 ай бұрын
For 2024, the 90 does move a bit closer to the 84, but they're still in pretty different leagues. New 90 is still a lot more powerful and stable and better suited for higher advanced and expert skiers.

I’m looking into this ski but not sure about sizing. I usually ski on 180s. Would you recommend sizing up to the 182 or down to the 176? I’m fairly aggressive 6ft 170. This is going to a low tide ski for Vermont so mostly groomers. Thank you!
@SkiEssentials

I'd go 182 in that ski, especially if you're mainly on VT groomers on firmer conditions.

How would you compare this current version of Stance to Atomic Maverick? Stance used to be stiffer and heavier, but are those closer in behavior now?
@SkiEssentials
Жыл бұрын
The gap did tighten a bit, but the Atomic still reigns as one of the lighter, thinner, and stiffer skis out there from a combo perspective. The Stance feels like it wants to make rounder turns while the Maverick is happier with energy and pop. Personally, I like the quieter nature of the Stance, but they're both wonderful options just with slightly different feels.

@@SkiEssentials Thank you for the responce. I liked the Maverick 95 very much when I tested those last spring in Lapland (I'm Finnish) and the Stance felt a bit much fore me. I have an ex-demo 95 Ti on its way to me, but I was still curious about the Stance, since I might have access to those as well since I have a couple friends who are sponsored by Salomon. I'm 47, 183cm and 73 kilos. The 180cm Maverick felt just right, so I assume it would be a choice between 176 and 182 in Stance?

I think the QST, specifically the 92, offers a ton of versatility and fun, and more of a difference than the Mindbender ski which you already have. I'd go QST 92 in the 184.

I am looking to buy a new pair of skis and I am unsure about which one to get. I ski about 70% onpiste and 30 off trail. I need a ski which is capable of hard piste conditions but is also Not too heavy and Not too narrow to be able to go offpiste. Do you think the Salomon stance 90 or the head core 87 is a good choice?
@SkiEssentials
10 ай бұрын
You're in the right spot! Stance 90 offers more of a traditional feel with metal while the Kore 87 uses carbon to power the ski. Kore is quite a bit lighter and more mobile than the Stance, so if lighter weight is high on your list of priorities, I'd look there, but if you're looking for a more complete and pure on-trail ski, I love the feel of the Stance 90.

I am trying to compare that to my 2016 Stormrider 88s.. Very similar turning radius but it sounds like that ski probably has a little more energy and since it is lighter can probably get on and off the edges easier.. There is definately a minimum speed limit that I need to turn my skis.. Probably around 25mph.. Is there a minimum speed limit on these skis?

No, this ski is very amenable to various turn shapes, styles, and speeds.

I'm assuming you are meaning the 92Ti. In this case, the Armada is quieter, smoother, and less chattery. The new Stance is lighter than the old one, so the mobility and quickness has been increased. Personally, I'd take the Armada for most conditions and terrain, maybe the Stance for bumps, but that's about it for me.

Stance 90 vs ranger 90 vs serpo?
@SkiEssentials
Жыл бұрын
Serpo has the most rebound--so much energy in the finish phase of that ski. The Stance is right there with a good mix of everything. The Ranger is a bit on the dull side, but some skiers like that sort of thing. For on-trail, I'd go Serpo, but for mixed use, Stance.

5'9", 155lb, intermediate to advanced, like to go fast and carving most of the time, with some 30% off piste. Should I go with 176 or 168? I grew out of my old powertracks 84 162, they feel too short and not stable enough going fast.
@SkiEssentials
Жыл бұрын
If speed is a part of your game, I think the 176 will fit a bit better. Spending most of your time on trail and in a carved turn, that longer length will offer better stability. It is a jump from 162 to 176, so it may take a minute to get used to, but after a brief adjustment, I think the longer one will work out better overall.
