Om hole 12 the spit out? Not sure it was a spit out? Hard to see & no replay but I feel that the disc hits the cage in the backside? So like he hits it on right side? The disc lands forward from Pauls side. Not saying that it could have gone in & that Paul is unlucky there. But feel that maybe the basket was fair after all? Would have been nice to see a replay from another angle. Thanks for a great job guys! 👏

To be fair Discmania’s baskets are trash. The tray is too shallow, chains too heavy and only one chainring for the two columns of chains.

It's not even about a basket that never spits out. I think its better when they don't spit out but really its just about consistency. Pick a good design and standardize. Maybe license said design to all the companies. But the lack of standardization is all about money. The pro tour needs to be using the same basket at every tournament.
@springysloth1186

I agree. We have PDGA approved discs and standardized tournament rules about safety/playing of lies and teepads, but they won’t standardize baskets?!? That makes no sense. Make baskets ‘PDGA approved’ for Elite series tournaments, and then keep casual A/B/C tier tournaments and small local courses with whatever basket they want!
@Flakzor123

@@springysloth1186 there are already technical standards for baskets and all these different baskets comply with them. The lack of consistency is however due to the standards not being detailed enough. It looks like these baskets have relatively short outer chains so they hang relatively tight yielding an aggressive rebound as the weight of multiple chains or even the entire chainassembly swings back against the disc. On chains like those the safest way to stick a disc in there is to float it in very softly which means it needs to basically stall out as it fades. Paul however divebombs his putts into the basket with way too much hyzer for it to stall. The one on hole 12 was probably a bit backside of the basket as well from the looks of it but I agree it's embarrassing that the baskets didn't catch those. I think Paul would prefer marksman baskets right about now... Edit: a more detailed standard would allow players to tailor their puttingstyle to suit the baskets they play on. Paul's style is very good in the wind but not at all suited to these baskets though after hole 12 he seemed to want to "float" the putts a bit more.

About a month ago, at the "home" course of Cole Redalen (A - Tier), some baskets were made from old wheel rims (!!). PDGA has to opt to choose the best available board members, doesn´t stay closed like a royal family.

I'd like to see PDGA make ONE STANDARD BASKET - to be outfitted on every PDGA certified course. I wish the Helix (Ozzie basket) became the standard, as there are zero nubs to affect a low putt from catching them, and denying an otherwise good putt. There are too many variables with the multitude of basket manufacturers, from nubs, to chain density, weight, etc. etc. They should be standardized like an NBA hoop, hockey net., etc. etc. Love the content fellas, looking forward to the final round.

I think innova Discatchers are by far the best basket with a design thats basically stayed the same over time. It seems other companies have tried to copy the design with their own flavor and they all suck. Veterans are terrible, those prodigy baskets dont catch good putts, and these discgolfpark baskets are the worst of the bunch. The new chainstars are decent at best. Mach x’s are decent too but i’ve seen and experienced too many good putts not sticking

It's not that, spit outs will always happen, but having to change putting styles week to week is stupid, they just need standardization. They don't use different sized basketball hoops in different stadiums. I also think they should pick one that spits out the least because its cool to see people cash huge putts.
@MajkiBoyVids

@mikemartin5340 most things in sports are standardized, but not in discgolf so I guess that opens up a lot of opinions. And there is not that much wrong you can do with a simple hole in the ground vs a metal basket🤷🏼♂️. But to your previous comment, I do think the commentators were complaining just a tad bit too much here, no spit outs were actually that bad imho, the puts were often very hard.
