It’s funny how people who don’t ride don’t understand why we do it, it’s the closest thing to flying, it’s being part of the machine, on top of the engine, feeling everything around you

I recently rode the 2023 RS - there is no instantaneous oomph in the higher gears from 40 mph - the engine wants to be revved which often means downshifting a gear or two when compared to my MT09 SP which weighs in at 182,7 kgs wet, powered by a torque-rich CP3 engine that pushes pro-tuned 118 whp 😎🏁🏁

More peaky power, taller 1st gear, closer ratios 2-6.... all the sort of things that make a bike more for racetracks and less for street. They may as well call the RS a Triumph Track Triple. As someone who thinks the Z900 or XSR900 are optimal street machines depending on your appetite for gizmos, I really don't know where this STRS sits. I know I feel cramped on it. It's like a supersport without fairings, barely more comfortable.

It’s nothing like a supersport ergonomics. I’m 6”2 and I have a 765rs. The bars are high and the rear sets are no where near as high and far back as a supersport. I have toured for 3 days straight on my 765rs, I’m a tall fat middle aged guy. Also making gears 2-6 shorter is better for the road. I dropped a tooth in my front sproket cause the 2019 model is geared so high Go ride an r1 then sit on a street triple and tell me what’s more comfortable
@JelloThatsMellow

Generally the Triumphs I've ridden first gear is too short. Crazy quick acceleration then redline before I've even finished making a left turn. The revised gearing actually makes more sense for the street.

The USA needs a kick in the backside, like a 44Teeth, a Bike World, or something else that has the sort of technical detail, relevance, connection, charisma, application, and pulse of motorcyclists State side (and I'm not talking about the cruiser-centric crowd either, sick to death of that worn out scene and every other motorcycle club or rally being jammed with them). They seem to have that sort of thing figured out pretty good in Europe often times but it seems like it's hit and miss in the States. Outside Revzilla, there's a couple independent guys trying to make a go, but they work for Google pretty much, nothing else.
