Got into a shop and had a look at some of the new gear including this ski. It's stiffer than I expected and those shovels are SUPER wide. It's got my interest! Any thoughts on these vs Mindbender 116C for a Bob sized skier?

The K2 is more flexible and floaty, but I wouldn't trust it quite as much in more technical zones--that's where the metal and the engineering of the Volkl have the advantage. For pure powder where flotation and creativity are involved, the K2 is a more playful ski for sure.

West coast expert skier. I’ve been on the M6 Mantra as a daily driver for 3 seasons. I enjoy Volkl’s amazing engineering. Would this be a good west coast resort power ski?

I'd say yes. It's got a surprising amount of stability to it for how nimble lit is. We loved the ski here in softer snow, and I'd imagine that in deeper and drier snow, it'd get even better. Nice directional energy while still being able to ride a bit more sideways for playful skiing.

Hi I have the Blaze 106 as my soft snow and backcountry ski. How does the 114 compare? The radius in a 184 is 18 which surprised me for a 114. I would think it would ski more like a plank vs the 106 but I haven't been able to demo the 114. Is the 114 a big step up in float for powder vs the 106? I wish the 106 was a bit stiffer in the shovels is the 114 stiffer or same lightweight construction. Thanks for your reviews.

The 114 features a different build, with green core technology. We found this to give the ski a bit more stiffness throughout but it is a bit heavier, for better or worse. I skied the 114 last year on a snowy day and loved it. Then again this season on another 8 inch day and it was one of my favorites in this width range. Way better flotation than the 106, and I kind of liked the surfy and smeary nature of the ski with the flatter profile. You're not locked into the shorter arc, and remember that these skis have the 3D Radius, so it's only that turny in the mid-section rather than tip to tail, it's a lot smoother in long turns than that mid-arc gives credit for.

@@SkiEssentials thank you sounds like a great ski. The shovels are so gigantic that scared me a bit but sounds like an amazing directional pow ski while still surfy. I had the 100eight which like the stiffness better than the 106. I’ll have to find a place to demo this year.

What’s the recommended mount point and how far forward can you go?

In the 176, the mount point is -11.4 from center. The metal plate underfoot kind of keeps you in that spot because if you go forward, you're really changing the flex, and you might even have some binding holes not in the metal.

I'm 5'11" 155 lbs expert. Should I go for the 184 or 176?

If you are looking to be in deeper snow where the extra surface area comes in handy, I'd go 184, If you're valuing agility and a bit easier of a time, I don't think 176 is too short.
