In this video, I give you a common man review of the 2024 Volvo XC40 B5. This is the Core version, which is the base model, with the dark interior (meaning dark accents). The XC40 is the smallest of the Volvo SUV lineup. The B5 means this is a mild hybrid with all wheel drive. It has a 2.0L turbocharged gas engine with an 11 HP electric motor that also acts as a starter, and a generator during the regenerative braking. Price as tested is about $42,500. There are some things I really like about this car. It looks great, the AWD is magnificent, and it's exceptionally comfortable. There are, however, things I don't like also. The main dash display is shifted to the left about an inch so that it's not in line with the view as you sit and look thru the steering wheel, and that annoys me. The stock speakers sound good, but not great. They are very midrange heavy and have no adjustment to reduce it, so the higher the volume, the more muddy it sounds. Also, the biggest complaint is that it doesn't come with Android Auto. It has Apple Car Play, and has an integrated Google service that's free for 4 years, then subscription based, but that doesn't offer a compelling replacement or valid reason for leaving out Android Auto. Other than that, it's a great car and I've really enjoyed driving it.
