EBC pads help the braking by a lot. Newer bikes also have a higher spring rate up front compared to the first couple years. It wasn't officially released but it has been noticed by suspension shops.

The range of adjustment and factory setting on the rear shock compression damping screw if different too…. Even though the manual has not changed. At least that is the case on my ‘24.

Always liked the T7. It's cool to see reviews coming out that aren't about that annoying TA! haha

So Yamaha caught up with the rest on ABS and a TFT screen after 4 years. I don’t think the T7 riders really needed that. The old school tough guys show grew up riding dirt bikes are biggest buyers of T7 because it was simple and does the job. They needed a better suspension and not a TFT screen or a new button to switch on ABS . The upgrades are just to capture more customers who might have picked ducati or KTM because of the TFT or off road ABS features. Yamaha ! Listen… bring a bike with better suspension in an affordable price and no one would buy a KTM. Good review by cycle news btw.

I'm going from a KTM 890 Adventure S model to the T7. While I find the TFT to be nice, I'd prefer an analog speedo and tach, without all the modes and abs. With government and legal interference we're stuck with all that garbage.

Yeah. Its a shame the ABS off has been moved to the menu system. I understand having it reactivate automatically on start-up, so it doesn't accidentally get left off indefinitely. And I understand its a legal standard across the industry. [rhetorical] But what's the harm in making the switch to safe dirt riding easy? Brakes that won't lock up on a loose descent are so dangerous.

I find all the nanny state BS to be quite obnoxious and interferes far too much. Until we take a unified stand against it all we're stuck with it.

If only they'd add cruise control, it's all I want. It'd make it the perfect all around bike that'd do everything I need. It's not just Yamaha, and I know it's because it would murder the sales of big ADVs for every manufacturer (why get a 550lb bulk monster when you can get all the same tech on a more manageable 450lb bike) but someone out there will do it and it's going to hurt every other manufacturer where it hurts most- in the wallet.

@@gryphongryph I know, the Aprilia really caught my eye especially after having owned a Shiver, but the service intervals for valve clearance (checks at least) is 12,000 miles. Yamaha & Honda's go 20,000+, I think the Suzuki VStroms are 18K. My current ride, the Pan Am is never. Pan Am's have hydraulic self-adjusting lifters meaning there's no valve service required. I was set to buy a Tuareg but found out about the frequency the valve checks/service required and knowing how much a service ran dollar wise back in 2012, and that the price has likely increased with inflation, I decided against it. That Tuareg was in the running though, oof, it's so close.

Excellent look at the 24' Tenere 700. Just picked up a 24' T7. Yes to the rear brake being horrible, I honestly don't know how they can even sell a bike with such a non-existent brake. If a car performed that poorly they'd be recalled. I don't find the front to be much better. I'll have to do some brake pad changes and see where that takes me. Other than the pi$$ poor brakes, I dig the bike a lot. I've gone from the Big ADV bikes down to the smaller is better mindset that many have... but I took it too far to the 300 & 501 size. Those small bikes are great on the trails or even worse conditions but they don't match up for ADV purposes. You summed up the T7 well, an over sized dirt bike. My plans are to keep the bike as minimal as I can and still protect it, and quickly don or doff soft luggage.

Try adjusting the brakes takes only 2 wrenches. I'm at 1600miles and they work. Stock pads. I don't know how yamaha sales bikes that out of adjustment

@@jayhopkins1337 Mine have sorted themselves out with miles pretty well. The gearbox is still a bit of an issue . I ordered the rear brake fix from CamelADV but I haven't put it on yet. It's been a crazy couple of months.

Yes. My shifting was very notchy and even would not down shift to 1st. The problem was I adjusted that shift rod to far down and it was literally hitting the frame work . And after break in switched to synthetic oil. Now shifting ok much smoother about 1600miles now

What type of riding are you going to be doing mostly? If it is off-road solo riding then get the T7. If you're going to be doing 90/10 road to gravel and sometimes have a passenger then get the AT.

Totally 100% agree but still rather the traver 700 I would I the tenere is ugly looking front plus over 50% on road so rather the tracer its exactly the same but miles cheaper and better looking
