The new Panigale definitely has become "just another of those bikes" for the regular joe that won't be taking it to the track and couldn't exploit even half of its performance. For the regular joe the looks were all that matters and this new function over form approach will drive people away in the long term. It's sad they couldn't keep the same mix of design and performance and they had to sacrifice one of them.
@CaliMotoTV

Possibly, I do think in time they will bring that styling back in.

I think once they see the massive drop in sales they'll be forced to switch back. They're going to lose over 50 percent of those who waited to purchase it because quite frankly, it's ugly. I have faith the Ducati fans can get the singed sided swing arm and a refresh back by protesting with their pockets. They tried this in the past and switched back to the single sided swing arm once already. I could even forgive the double sided swing arm if this design was beautiful, as ducati has produced many other bikes that look beautiful from every angle. This one doesn't, but performance wise if that's all you care about, you won't be disappointed. For the price, if I'm paying that much money the bike better look beautiful and unique from every angle with no flaws. Lol

Lots of great thoughts on the new V4 instead of just regurgitating marketing lingo. I get that the single sided swingarm was more sexy, but improving the performance and function meant changing to a double sided swingarm.....and Ducati certainly made a really pretty one. Overall engineering initially looks to be a 10/10....but style....maybe a 7. In its defense, the new V4 might look much better in person than in photos.

Ducati Style=LOSS, Ducati Performance=WIN, the company has gone from both extremes throughout its history, and 1 other time made the same mistake of creating a high performing bike look ugly. Love the swingarm, love the suspension, love the electronics package. Hate the price considering you have to add like 3k to unlock its full electronics package and there's still no fuel gauge. 1299 FE is the best looking to me, SP1 best value. If they make the SFV4 (fav bike) ugly I'm out! lol solid takeaways btw!

I’m honestly excited about this new bike, I think it’s becoming much more of a “Ferrari of motorcycles” while still retaining the ability to absolutely rip around a track. Hard to comment on looks though because on a screen I don’t really love the look of an original panigale, but seeing them in person is always a different story. I’m excited to see what this does for them in WSBK along all the other great series like BSB and endurance racing.

They killed Tamburini's vision of how a superbike should have the curves of a women from aerial view. By making the seat wider and the tail narrower they got rid of the hourglass figure that you would always see from top view of a Ducati superbike. The side heat exhaust vents are ugly look nothing like a 916 gen!!. I think this will be their worse selling superbike. Worse than the 999 streetbike.

Go look at the top view of the v4r and compare it. This model is curvy and hourglass shaped than the current. That’s facts. Before I say CBR600, I won’t. 😂 j think the comment about the 999 not selling as much because they didn’t make as many is a bit misleading. I’d argue they didn’t make as many because the buying public hated it and didn’t buy it…. The comparison between the desmocidci’s DSSA is kinda moot as well. Ducati weren’t aiming that bike at the masses…. I dunno, as I’ve said in other places online…. Time will tell how the buying public will react… personally I see this reverting back to a SSSA with 4-5 yrs.
@CaliMotoTV

I think it adds more context to the 999 by saying what I did. I can't find actuals or data to support that people didn't want them, but I did find production numbers. There's more factors that play in so I wanted people to think more. The desmo point is more about how that looked than production, to show that yea, we have loved a Ducati with a dssa in the past and it can happen again. I don't see them going back, unless the v2 stays that way. Mainly being they're developing for future competition (yes I know the 1103 doesn't compete, but they can workout issues early before the v4r comes out).

I’m afraid while the 25 model is likely better for a high level track rider - for those of us who mainly do road riding on one of these it’s not an improvement. If I do a track day I use a cheap 400-600cc bike. Everyone is different I guess. I’m sure it will do well regardless of what I think. I do however remember the 999 with a double sided swing arm was very unpopular. Yes i am that old. Some of the other changes to the 25 look pretty bad visually.

I think if we marinate on the looks a bit it'll grow on us. I think it looks. Meh ok. But it appears it'll be a weapon on the track and I'm looking forward to hopefully testing that out. It could also make it a more compliant street bike. We'll see.

Phisic's is physics, to make a bike go fast around a track is what these bikes r ment to do that's why the looks r converging together, if people want a bike for comfort buy a gold-wing or Harley or harden up , these bikes shouldn't have sat-nav or heated grips , just means more weight

I'm not sure what "phisic's" is when you spell it correctly 1 word after that... however, this 1103cc doesn't complete in any formal racing so those creature comforts can and should be added, their competitors have them.
