Took delivery of my 101 on July 5, 2024. Have about 1,600 miles. Agree that ride command is slow to boot, but not a big issue and believe it will be enhanced eventually. Agree that fuel gauge could be improved, but glad to have something. To be honest I’ve always relied on the trip odometer more on all my bikes past and present. I consider the bike cold blooded, but so is my 2016 Gold Wing. I blame EPA. Simple solution, let it warm while putting on gear (ATGATT). Only surprise I’ve had in two months is battery went below starting volts after sitting 7 days. Owners manual states to use a tender. Yes I read the manual cover to cover. Conclusion, none of these issues would prevent me from doing it all over again. The bike is a blast!

They side the same thing about the Pan America, brought a 2022 Pan Am Special in March 2023. It has had a few problems, but nothing that is a deal breaker in my mind. Problems: 1 - Battery was sitting flat for a long time in the show room, as it was built in January 2022. I replaced the battery, because I got sick of it being flat the next day and the Dealer telling me it was testing okay. 2 - Starter clutch was a problem, needed a second press most of the time. Replaced with an upgraded starter clutch under warranty, there must have been a design fault. 3 - Alternator failed with a loose magnet, caused it to cutout at idle in the city and once on the freeway, It would start again, but needed to have some revs held on to stop it cutting out. It was replace with the 2024 alternator upgrade kit. Took 8 weeks for the kit to arrive in Australia, they said it cost $4,000 AUD, and fixed it under warranty. I'm not going to trade in for the 101, the Panam is my favorite bike, does everything I want in the sports touring, all roads and commuting riding that I do. If I could own 3 bikes, then I would consider it, or if it had been out in 2023, the choice would have been harder.

Important notes to add: The low idle you spoke about "could" be attributed to using the wrong fuel. Indian Motorcycles REQUIRE 92 octane gas. And they will run like garbage, including stalling, knocking, etc on 87 pump gas. And also, some people may want, even like, the idle to be below 1,000 RPM to make their Indian Motorcycle sound like a Harley. It's not a good idea to ever intentionally leave it idle that low, as the slightly higher RPM is actually needed to keep good oil flow to the top of the engine.

Hey man. 25 Sport Scout with 101 calibration and S&S slip on. Mine is a limited and does not have the ride command, so no comment on that. 1100 and change mileage and I'm very happy with mine. I had a loopy rough idle for quite a bit of time. Now that I have the miles I do and since doing the upgraded calibration tune it has really seemed to smooth out. The only other little issue I have seen is my gas gauge sticking some while it should be lowering to show less fuel, not to concerned with that though cause it does seem to catch up eventually. Over all it is an absolute blast to ride and I'm very happy with my decision on this buy. * By the way the S&S sounds great but in time I will be going to a full exhaust. Just looking for a different look. I still prefer the 2 into 2 drag pipe looks...... Freedom has one now you can order but it doesn't work with the rear pegs of course, so that was a bummer. However they are working on a relocation kit as you can see from there prototype they feature in the KZitem video sound clipping the exhaust. So i'll be on the look out. Cheers🍻

I've had the bike (2025 Scout Bobber Limited + Tech) stall on me twice for no reason. Once, I fired it up cold and quickly (under 1 minute) pulled out of my driveway (it's on a hill so I was coasting, in gear but clutch in) and it died right as the bike hit the street. (No big deal, just kept coasting, holding clutch and hit start. Fired right back up). The second time, similar situation. Cold start, left the driveway, powered up a hill on my street, then downshifted back down to first before finally coasting w/ clutch in while braking to a stop at the end of my street. It died as I stopped. Again, hit start and it fired right back up. All of this was in the 90F heat of a Georgia summer, so the engine wasn't truly "cold". I've definitely adjusted to let the engine idle a bit while I put on gear before heading out if it's the first time I've started the engine in a few hours.

I have 3000 miles on my 101 so far. Normally, I hit the power button first, dress out and good to go by the time I'm ready. I have had it stall on me before, four times now while down-shifting when slowing down. It's a bit scary at first, but once you get muscle memory, you can start it up easy without worry. You will have to click the start button off, ensure clutch is all the way in and hit power again. Other points: I get a gurgle in the RPM at idol, dealer says its normal. This bike only takes 93 gas, so be prepared, she's a high class ho. When filling, there is a weird backwash, causing you to spill sometimes so you will need to be patient and pump slow. I can get 3 gallons in if I'm slow. True Range: 120 miles to be safe. When you get low in gas the dial just says "Range low" it doesn't actually give you miles left before empty. If you are super low, it will start shutting off. I beat this by resetting my trip at each fill. Once I get to 1/4 tank, I fill up. It feels like I fill every 3-4 days. I like the sport mode, but be careful, you get some SERIOUS torque on low end and you will feel like you are going to fall off! Mirrors: I use them up high....I don't like them low because I have to move my head to see the mirrors well...if you move them, up, remove them, switch sides, reinstall and then bolt in tight. This bike is Fk-ing FAST. I can be at 100 in third gear and still have 3 more gears to go. there is always more torque at higher gears, so if you are cruising and need to pass, just add gas. Throttle is sensitive in Sport mode, so hold on! USB is awesome to charge your phone. after some use, I'm relocating controls from forward to mid for more comfort. Adding ten inch riser bar to handle bars because its too low for long distance rides. I've added a sissy bar and passenger pegs and syndicate seat and highway bars. I get compliments everywhere. I LOVE this bike. If you buy one, go ahead and get everything put on then if not, at least order the parts and get it all in one package. I doubted myself at first, but now that I have it, I should have done it from the start. When your ride, it feels like you are on a crotch rocket. I cruise with my Moto club and I feel geriatric in third gear all day. My Harley Buddies are like WTF?! and they don't want none of that smoke. It's FAST. this aint for the faint of heart.

Mines work fine. It does have some auto shutoff feature if you let it idle too long after firing it up. I think it idles low cause that's how big v-twins SHOULD idle. Part of it's characteristics? It's not a 4cyclinder lol. If you don't give it gas, it does get jerky in low gears especially when slowing down in corners @ 10-20mph. Easily fixable... Just use the clutch and finesse it a bit. Not a deal breaker to me. The biggest issues I've had is all the random check engine lights. But they all have gone away on their own with normal use. I have never felt any issues, just the CEL's on for a cycle or so. After I shut the bike off at my destination, by time I cut it back on it's gone. Been a fun bike for me, above 100mph+ it's very vibratey, it's not a top speed machine, it cruises comfortably under 90mph. Still a very fast and very fun bike for me. I picked one up about a month ago and should be hitting 1901 miles this week. My takeaways so far: - It's probably the best looking bike I've seen in person, let alone owned. - It is an absolute blast to ride. THE. MOST. FUN. - Ride Command is just a dumpster fire on so many levels. From latency, to slow boot, to the way information is organized, to how the physical switches work, even to the features it brings to the table. It is not good from start to finish and it absolutely is not a reason to buy ANY Indian. - It feels pretty cold blooded and I've noticed a bit of a rough idle but that feels like something that could be resolved with a flash. I'm in Colorado so it might be that the combination of altitude and 91 octane being the best fuel we can get leads to some of the roughness. I just put the S&S exhaust on it and it sounds amazing. Makes you feel like the Maxell guy when you're riding it. Should you buy one? I'd say ride it first and don't sweat the minor stuff people are talking about. All these problems are legit, and I must add to them too: 1. There is some stalling in 2nd gear 2. There is a rattling noise in that mini-fairing 3. The design of the rear fender makes it impossible to upgrade the tire to 180, like for the old Scouts 4. The catalyzer is located before end pipes, so the after market slip-ons will still have a shitty sound 5. There is a 3rd oxygen sensor in the pipes and that will complicate things 6. The menu for changing driving modes is not easily accessible 7. The torque in low range RPM is shitty, a tune is absolutely needed as soon as possible Overall is a very good bike, it is a clear improvement over the old Scout, but they need to address some small problems, and fix the damn supply chain. As you said each to their own. When i was looking for the bike 2023 rogue was nearly perfect design wise. If it looked like 2025 wouldn't bet even on the list... even that command rider looks like after thought angle in weird, why the heck thay plate with "J" takes so much space for no real reason .... terrible. And the most funny thing is that they make on paper slightly powerful bike but on evwn higher rpm compared to previous so it feels same at best or even slower ( but maybe it because of stoch exhaust) because who rides with cruiser at 6300rpm 🙂 On the other hand 101 doesn't makes any sense now because price is too close to chief which is a better bike in general... this gen is kind of lost the route

I was looking at these but the closer I looked the more I found that I didn't like. I don't like the throttle-by-wire, the starting sequence, or how computerized everything is. I was hoping it had more of a classic and simple design.

@@logangodofcandy No. It's a good thing you don't speak for me because you have no clue what I'm talking about. Oddly, many of the things you may think make things "not cheap" are in fact what make them cheap. Quality is more important than features. You can make something that does a lot of things ok for a short period of time or you can make something that does a few things very well for a much longer period of time. You call mine archaic, I call yours chaotic. You call mine cheap, I call yours cheaply made. Ironically, your "tech" will become obsolete and unserviceable faster than what you call archaic.
